(I am not sure if this is the proper thread, but it seemed to fit. I apologize if it is not)

In politics, we get one side arguing against one or more sides for the solution. And, admittedly, some problems present complex situations. But I don't think any problem is big enough to generate the kind of prolonged debates we see going on in politics.

While every factor causes a change in an overall situation and the details of any solution must be debated, I would say that for every issue you see the media and the subsequent population squabbling over has already been thought of and solved probably ten times over in the course of that time.

"Well, if they already have thought of the solution than why don't they suggest it?"

Because of politics. Politics is the detriment to all the problems it tries to solve. They could be sitting on the answer and holding it in because it may be more productive for their political goals, now or in the future. In addition to that, it is also interests, whether their own or someone else's they are aligned to. If politicians came out with a solution to cancer that said,

"Hey. You know a good way to reduce cancer is to stop selling people carcinogens like cigarettes."

That is an example of an obvious solution banked by politics and interests. The many smokers out their will rage against this because, let's not dance around it, they are DRUG ADDICTS. That makes it politically unsuitable. This will also make enemies out of the enormously profitable tobacco industry which would fund Dracula if it meant keeping their business alive and profitable.

This is speculation, but I sort of believe it to be true. The solution to most of our problems already have answers. It just gets monkey-humped by the people claiming to give them to us.

    What do you think?
