BARELY and after we already had lost a huge chunk of our purchasing power.

Yes... really. We are FINALLY recovering from the Trump disaster. Which, again, is NOT due to the pandemic. Biden recovered from the pandemic in just weeks. The REST was Trump's disaster. Or did you think that idiocies like... tax cuts to billionaires would have no consequences?

Trump handed him a RECOVERING economy and Biden blew it creating his Bidenflation for which we will never recover you think prices are going to drop 19% any time soon? I know the consequences of tax cuts across the board as Republicans pass, a growing economy and rising incomes and rising tax revenues and lower deficits even surpluses. What is your complaint about them you don't get to grab more of their money no matter the hit on the economy?

    You’re being beyond obtuse here.

Inflation was created by the $4 trillion handouts Trump put into the economy. Then add in the price gauging during the pandemic, ad you have what we have here.

    According to the below average intelligent people, the following scheduled oil production cuts HAVE NOT pushed the price of crude/price at the pumps higher;

From May to June 2020, 10 million barrels per day.

From July to December 2020, 8 million barrels per day.

From January 2021 to April 2022, 6 million barrels per day.

Oh yeah, the Republican trickle down theory. The Ryan/Trump tax cuts did nothing but pad the pockets of millionaires and billionaires while building the highest 4-year debt in the history of US presidents. Expect more DEBT and HIGHER DEFICITS if Trump resides in the oval office.

More people died of small pox in the past too. What has that to do with people suffering in the here and now? It's 2024. Need a calendar?

Statistics are important in comparison with others.
The fact that more people died of smallpox in the past is a good indication that we are doing much better on that front today.

Similarly, comparing the statistics of people with two jobs is virtually meaningless as a single snapshot statistic today. It really only has meaning when compared with the same stats in the past.

That shows that Biden is doing better than Trump. FYI.

Statistics change too fast and are never current. A mom comforting her hungry child doesn't care about statistics that say inflation is going down.

And what about the more than 300,000 jobs that were added to the economy in March?

Is that a bad statistic? Should those 300,000 people be unhappy about their new jobs?

Certainly not... if they still have some energy as they leave their first job on the way to their second job.

We don't have famine in US. You might wish there was, because it would make a compelling partisan argument, but there is no famine.

    Appeal to emotion grade: Fail.

Well, the number of people doing that is lower than in the past. That’s good, right?

No justification simple supply side economics. Prove revenues dropped as a result and the higher earners paid less a share of taxes. We already KNOW the even DEEPER deficits and debt Biden and the Dems are causing.

I don't live in the past. I'm much more concerned with the present and the future.

Economics is complicated stuff. Not being an economist I certainly don't understand a lot of the numbers put out by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, IMF, etc. and of course the talking points put out by both parties are more or less hucksterism concocted by professional spin doctors. People need to evaluate their own individual situations in terms of the economy and draw their own conclusions. As an old person, I can remember a time when a middle class family might have one car, whereas now every high school kid has a car. So certainly in that respect we are better off. On the other hand, since I went to college, education is much harder to afford and we are worse off. The list could go on supporting arguments for being better off or worse off.

I personally think if a snapshot is taken, the economy is doing well at this point in time. But it is a house of cards IMHO. Both political parties spending money like drunken sailors and growing the debt is not sustainable. The thing that concerns me is that most people today do not have a secure retirement for the future, i.e., a retirement indexed to the cost of living. The days of real pensions seem to be gone.

Trump - Highest 4-Year Debt in US History
Biden - Despite the massive interest on Trump debt, Biden is projected to come in at $7 Trillion over his 4 years.

Summary --- Trump bad, Biden a little better.

I thought you didn’t live in the past?

And on war, crime and the military, Biden has performed better than Trump.
And here’s another one for you:
Economy - trump awful, Biden good. That’s what this thread is about.

Trump is responsible for all illegal immigrants and fentanyl in 2024, as he killed the Bipartisan Senate Immigration Bill, which staunch Conservative Senator James Lankford (R-OK) stated was the "the most comprehensive border bill in the history of the US".

Crime. Hell yeah! Our streets were a mess under Trump with his hateful rhetoric. They have been relatively quiet under Biden, because he's a Statesman..

Comprehensive just means "broad" or "expansive". It doesn't mean "good".
The bill allows 5,000 illegals in every day. That doesn't solve anything. It also forces funding for Ukraine, which has nothing to dp with US borders. It's just a trick by the Biden administration to waste more billions in Ukraine.

Trump left office in 2021, over three years ago. You want to blame Coolidge rather than Biden too?

Well, then you should be pleased to hear that the situation in the present is better than it was in the past. Why do you insist it's worse now when a number of posters have proven you wrong?

I heard some catholic folks whip themselves for some reason, and it seems some people do the same over politics by pretending things are worse than they are

You are WRONG! Sounds like you're not even aware what was in the bill. Listen to Sen. James Lankford (R-OK). Also listen to him call out Trump for interference.
