The average temperature across the contiguous U.S. last month was 41.1 degrees F, 7.2 degrees F above the 20th-century average and ranking as the third-warmest February in NOAA’s 130-year climate record. Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin each had their warmest February on record. An additional 20 states saw their top-10 warmest February on record.

Persistent winter warmth resulted in a steady decrease in ice coverage across the Great Lakes, which reached a historic low of 2.7% on February 11 — the lowest amount of ice coverage on record during mid-February.

February precipitation for the contiguous U.S. was 1.86 inches, 0.27 of an inch below average, ranking in the driest third of the climate record. Illinois, Maine, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont each saw their second-driest February on record.

    Meteorological winter (December 2023 – February 2024) | Year-to-date

Meteorological winter was the warmest winter on record for the contiguous U.S., with an average temperature of 37.6 degrees F — 5.4 degrees above average. Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, Vermont and Wisconsin each had their warmest winter on record. Twenty-six additional states saw their top-10 warmest winters on record.

I know how these threads usually go. Believers in the scientific data are alarmed. Those who don't are not............as the evidence continues to mount. I fear for my grandchildren and the world we are leaving them.

Yup! Global warming is real. No need to worry though, I'm sure they got the best DEI hired scientists on the job.

One statistic is missing which is always interesting. When was the previous record set and how much is it above the previous record?

I'm sure there is some volcano somewhere mounting pressure for an eruption too... but we can't do anything about that either.

We can't stop a volcano from erupting. Spewing millions of tons of CO2 in to the atmosphere from human activity is another matter.

You're making an assumption that human caused CO2 is the cause for the climate changes.

This winter beat the previous record from nearly ten years ago by eight tens of a degree F. Personally, after going through this last winter, I was hoping this winter would be even warmer.

The "assumption" is that science WORKS. If you don't assume that, you're golden. But, then again, you shouldn't use contraptions like airplanes that rely on scientific principles to guarantee that they won't kill you.

In Mongolia, a Killer Winter Is Ravaging Herds and a Way of Life
    https://e360.yale.edu/features/mongolia-dzud-climate-change

Mongolia’s nomadic herders are facing a savage “dzud” winter, with more than 2 million livestock frozen to death so far. Scientists say this lethal phenomenon — extreme cold and heavy snow following summer drought — is occurring more frequently and is linked to climate change.

Extreme cold, plus heavy snow causes livestock losses when they cannot dig through the snow to get to the grass. They have also had warm temperatures, which results on a crust that is even more difficult for the livestock.

With the arctic warming faster than the equator, it appears that outbreaks of arctic air to the south are becoming more frequent and intense.

Nope that assumption is how power hungry government bureaucracies, especially leftist ones work. Create some sort of morale equivalency of war demand power to fix it and of course never fix it because in the end of you fix it those damn uppity peasants might want their power back. Oh and what were the numbers for January?

I too will not rest till the OPs grandchildren are safely freezing their asses off like he would like them to.

So, now that I’m on board, who are we going to war with first to start forcing countries to get back to the net zero that’ll economically and ironically kill millions? We have no time to waste.

    Not an assumption.

And if it had been the coldest winter on record, you would blame that on global warming, too.

I doubt that even the summer was warmer than the Holocene Climate Optimum or the medieval warm period, though the winter was probably warmer than the little ice age.

The idea that man made CO2 is contributing to climate patterns is highly debated in the scientific community.

Well, the Colorado river basin is enjoying it's second above average year for snowpack.
Hardly screams "climate warming" does it?

    No matter.
    One.
    Just one.
show just one of the doomsday predictions made about the climate in the last century that has come true.
