Anyone who has seen the movie "Platoon" knows what the Viet Cong Infrastructure (VCI) was. The villagers that were storing rice and weapons for the Viet Cong guerrillas (NLF - National Liberation Front). The woman that Sgt Barnes shot in the head because she wouldn't shut up. The little girl that was being gang raped.

On the books, according to the U.S. military's definition of the VCI:

The whole Vietnam war was a total disaster. What angers me, is the fact that it's so often mentioned, that the USA lost 58,000 soldiers in that war, but not mentioned that these people killed over a million Vietnamese. There are estimates of loss of life between 2 and 5.1 million, but all we hear are the 58,000 Americans who died. The US government admitted that the Gulf of Tonkin incident never happened, which was used to go into that country in the first place.

The ease at which the USA admits herself to go yet into new war zones is staggering. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_United_States_military_operations

You would think that they would go tired of going around the world and killing people.
