Exactly. They're stupid zombies. With a wall you can ignore them, or sit at the top and shoot/drop/fire/pour things onto them as people have done to enemies for centuries. It's very easy and quick to embed sharp, jaggy poles in hedgehog formation around the perimeter for stupid zombies to impale themselves on. Then build the inner wall inside that perimeter, then work on outer walls and then strengthen them.

Several walls being better than one.

With staggered gates to retreat behind the next wall if one fails.:worker:

I am not a fan of plots which aren't credible. ;)

Zombies in this universe don't have much of a hunting ability. They roam aimlessly until they found food. The fact that the farm has been relatively safe must mean that it's just in an area that is not easily wondered to. Perhaps it's on a hill. Or perhaps it's surrounded by a river.

The farm only provided a false sense of security. As I think we are going to find out in tonight's episode. The end of last week's episode seemed to foreshadow the end of the farm being a safe place.

And I couldn't be happier. It's time for a change of location. In the comics this is about where they start to realize what is required of a secure living area.

Having just watched the season finale, I think they've set all of those things up for Season 3.

And by the way, the episode was awesome!

    Here comes the Rick-tatorship?!
Now Lori is starting to aggravate ME! I've been defending her, but now she's ticking me off.
The episode was great, can't for it to pick up next season.

I thought they had alluded to the farm being surrounded by a marsh? With the walkers getting stuck in it?

Yes that would go along with the Carl scene.

Also for those who don't read the comics....

You just met the most bad ass character in the whole series. And you don't even know it yet.

And Yes....she's even more bad ass than Daryl.

Zombies remind me of Democrats. That's really a slander on Zombies isn't it?

Do you have to do that? I like these forums because we get to talk to each other without politics. There are countless other threads you can talk politics on this site. Can't we just talk about the fact that we all like Walking Dead without someone ruining the vibe with posts like that?

No. I'm asking you to show a human side. You must be a really lonely person if you can't turn off the political switch.

    Mal Al.

I've never liked her. She's just annoying. She and that stupid Rick deserve each other.

If anyone ever needed a good doing it was the bold Al di Sal:bonk:....oops I meant Shane. Now what happened with that boy he murdered? How did the boy turn into a zombie without being bitten? Is it an air borne virus now? Or wot?

Is the baby going to be born a zombie baby, if it is Shane's? And will that create a new mutant zhumbanie race?

When is the downtrodden Mum who lost her daughter Sophie??, going to turn into a ninja-Mum and kill all the zombies?

When is Kronicope going to admit he has a day job as the smart hunter guy with the crossbow? Kronic, I saw you in the pic thread. You're his double.

Everyone carries the virus. Regardless of whether you're bitten or not, when you die you turn into a walker.

I thought it was a great finale, plenty of zombies and the hooded character added intrigue. The writers are not afraid to "off" characters so it's unpredicatable as to who survives from show to show.

I think Rick's son is going to be a future problem as he gets older...if it was me I'd shoot him now...

    just kidding...

I watch the show and think, ok shoot them now they're only going to be a problem down the road.

Rick is now suspect also with his whole "it's a Rickocracy now."

What the heck, you turn into a zombie after you die no matter what...just start shooting the trouble makers early on.

Someone mouths off...or needs an attitude adjustment.

    bang.

    Fantasy of course...

One interesting part of the show is the exploration of morality and distinguishing between the living and the walkers...I think that line gets thinner and thinner...the writers are blurring the line between the moral separation of killing walkers and the living.

I was bored at first, but I think the show has developed and I hope it lasts.

What was the deal with the hooded character? We're those armless walkers that he/she has chained up behind her?

Apparently, she's a big character in the comic...

Her name is Michonne, and she will be played by Danai Gurira...

Michonne was voted #86 on IGN's Top 100 comic book heroes...

The two walkers seem to be her former boyfriend and his best friend...

I just want to point out that because you said it was unpredictable It's also unpredictable for me as a fan of the comics!

The comics were just as unafraid to kill off main characters. However they chose different characters to kill off. Currently in the comics Sophia is still alive but Carol is dead. Also Shane died before they even left Atlanta. He pointed a gun at Rick and threatened to force him out of the picture so he could be with Lori and Carl. Carl witnessed this and shot Shane before Rick could even fathom how to handle the situation.

So for me as a comic fan I have no idea what's going to happen next.

HOWEVER I can shed some light on some of the questions of the finale. If you don't want these questions answered I suggest you stop reading here.

The hooded character that saved Andrea already has a name. She's one of the most popular characters in the comics. Her name is Michonne.

    Here is her story:

    Michonne

Yes. She needed some people to talk to. Let's just say she's a bit off.

and while it is not medically impossible, it is an unusual direction. For everyone to be infected invokes the concept of asymptomatic carriers (i.e. Typhoid Mary). One would expect an asymptomatic carrier to be immune to higher doses (i.e. a bite). Using the little kid zombie that was stored in the farmer’s barn as a model, it appears that immunity from the bite is off the table. This suggests the requirement of multiple pathways (i.e. what happens to a carrier who is bitten but not killed by the violent assault) and that there is another pathway of death (i.e. massive bacterial infection similar to a Komodo dragon but quicker acting?). I'm still going to refrain from reading the comic strip until after season 3.

you are still not getting it. everyone is a carrier of the virus, the thing is though it doesnt take effect until the brain death, as long as the brain is still in tact of course.

think of a zombies bite as nothing but a poison like from a king cobra, it only kills. neither shane or randall were bitten, they died through causes of a broken neck and being stabbed, had nothing to do with a zombie attack. once they were brain dead the virus ran its course, and how fast it takes effect varies on person to person.

that goes back to the logic in the original "Night of the Living Dead" by Romero. I was looking for efforts by the directors from AMC to address conceptual failures demonstrated by the classics like Re-Animator and Night of the Living Dead. I suppose that I have been spoiled by Breaking Bad which is a well-researched show giving glimpses into modern meth manufacture.

Hopefully they don't have her wear fake braids to play this character. She's lovely with the short cut.
