Source: Rare.us | This Florida woman scammed government while making $45,000 a year

This is not right. Stealing money from people working hard, paying their taxes, and hurting people who really needs assistants. This women should go to jail ASAP, and no she does not collect 200 dollars for passing go...

Some how with Obamacare coming into the mix, I see this story being repeated...

How in the world did you decipher that from one woman engaging in fraud?

Actually, since it was considered newsworthy, its an indication that fraud is NOT rampant in these programs.

And it is not. Too bad the military can't even begin to match the success and efficiency of our medical and entitlement programs.

The military doesn't even bother to get names or receipts when it is handing out pallet loads of billions of dollars CASH!

Because it isn't one women. It's millions of people and story after story confirms it.

This is simply yet another example.

It's news worthy because a large part of the population is tired of waste, corruption, and abuse in the name of welfare.

First question is: "Have you documentation of the 'millions of others?'"

Second question is: "'Why aint there a record of prosecution and conviction on them?'"

Sure hope so. One has to wonder, if it's just one woman, and not a problem with high amounts of fraud...why the need for "new ways to catch" and their expectations of a lot more arrests?

To satisfy the babbling morons who think that most of the money is wasted that the government is doing all that it can to catch welfare cheats, even if the right wing doesn't want to pay for that, either

That's a ridiculous statement. The media doesn't consider black on black crime newsworthy either, but it is rampant nonetheless.

I see, so rather than acknowledging there is a problem with widespread fraud....you chose the tin foil hat.

Yes, they're just going to spend the money, time and effort on new systems designed to catch....nothing...to satisfy babbling morons. It's a conspirrrraaaaaaacy!!!!!

Any reason you cannot admit that theres a problem with fraud??

They deny it because they mistakenly believe that admitting that there is fraud and waste and that many people are abusing and stealing from the system would be admitting that the entire system needs to be done away with, which is not the case.

I believe that if there were any accountability in the system twice as many people who actually need help could be helped for half the amount of money we are spending now and that would be a win win.

To be fair, many conservatives do the same thing when it comes to defense spending when they act like admitting that the DoD wastes billions of dollars means the DoD should be done away with.

It's an inability to reach logical concussions by people in general rather than an ideological affliction.

You can start here in Florida:

If the average fraud is $1,000 a month per person, or $12,000 per year, then 1,125,000 people in Florida alone are defrauding the system.

Frankly I highly doubt that the average fraud is $1000 a month, doubtful most collect that, so reasonable to suspect that MORE than 1 million people in Fla are defrauding the system in some way or another.

Another factor to consider is that they are only talking about dollars actually handed out. They aren't counting administrative costs, which I have read in the past run about $1 per every $3 in assistance

I read your article and it doesn't say anywhere that the average fraud is 1000 per month per person. And the article blames identity theft for a lot of the fraud. So wouldn't a lot of these criminals be posing as multiple people?

Actually I proved my point perfectly. The media picks what is newsworthy. They don't focus on black on black crime nor welfare fraud, because it will harm them politically. Therefore, when a reporter actually does their job, it suddenly becomes newsworthy and lemmings mark the event as it not being rampant.

No, it doesn't work that way and you should know it. The only way that they would know that it is happening is to actually catch somebody.

    Why haven't they?

Pick $2,000 a month or $5,000. Then figure the population of Florida against the population of the US. And the identity thieves sell what they steal to others, so even though they may be doing it in bulk, the people they sell to are likewise defrauding the welfare system.

If you still think less than a million people nation-wide are defrauding welfare, then enjoy your pollyanna dreamland

So poor people and people who have given up hope commit a bunch of crimes.

"Dog bites man" stuff. Where does that go on a normal day?

Why don't you try reading the article. They have caught people and have issued warrants on others. Their complaint line alone lists 35,000 complaints of potential fraud. Potential is only scratching the surface.

I don't know if it's a million or not. It could be. But your methods of arriving to that number are completely misleading. You threw in a completely random number to come up with another completely random number.
