You evidently don't know much about Lyndon Johnson. Why would he never vote for any of the anti-lynching bills when he was a Senator if he was so concerned? The man had no moral compass and he treated people miserably. You figure it out.

When he became President, as a political animal, he knew which way the wind was blowing and had his legacy to think of. He signed the civil rights bill thinking he would lose the south with the Dems splitting off and starting their own political parties like George Wallace and the American Independent Party.

What type of moral compass was southern politicians on at that time?

If he was running for re-election you might be on to something, but since he didn't please tell us what his political gain was. BTW he still hardly gets any credit for signing those bills into law.

Like I said, he was very aware of the political winds and he had a legacy to leave (something Presidents are concerned with). He decided the right way against his own party and bravo for that, but he was a brilliant politician with no moral compass. If his power as President were in the hands of southern democrats, he would not have passed the bill.

Now days, he would not have gotten as far as he did with the news ridiculous obsession with sex. He had open affairs while married to Lady Bird.

Really? You know what I meant? Since I said DNC, you never specified what you thought I meant the first time you responded asking for a link. I provided exactly what I meant. DNC, Democratic National CONVENTION. Then you try to say what I am talking about is the committee and Debbie Schultz? You are bad at taking the loss of the debate. Get back to me when you feel up to discussing what I said, and not what you THINK I meant.

Hey, if LBJ was FOR civil rights, he would have pushed to have congress pass the legislation when Dwight Eisenhower was president and LBJ was speaker of the house. But hey, I guess it was all the fighting LBJ put blacks through in Vietnam that must have convinced him they were equal right?

Again I ask exactly what moral compass was southern politicians following at that time?

That is pretty obvious since no president before he had passed one.

So, pretty much every president has had some type of affair with somebody other than the First Lady was is new about that.

I don't know why you arrogantly seem to think that all minorities are members of the democrat party only. The republicans have always been a party made up of minorities, and for most of it's history, the party of choice for African Americans. I know lots of minorities who are republicans, and I am one of them.
