he played for the Saints too.... there was one time he was sacked and was facemasked when he tried to juke out, the defender turned Wuerfalls helmet backwards while it was still on his head. I wish I could find the video.... looked very painful.

My highschool also played against Wuerfall's highschool in NW Florida. Wuerfall had a state Championship on his resume' too. They hammered us.

My best friend hit him (late) on the first offensive play by wuerfall (an 80 yard TD pass to EG Green) Sean didn't care the pass was gone, you knew it was going to be a TD and sean PLANTED Wuerfall in the dirt..... got a 15 yrd roughing the QB penalty but Sean jumps up and starts "THAT'S RIGHT!!!! ALL NIGHT, I OWN YOU!!! WHAT NOW B****!!!!"

Wuerfall jumped up, put his hands together in that praying motion he always did, and replied "God Bless you" and went back to the sideline. Sean was speechless. Lol. I still bust on him about it to this day "WUERFALL SHUT YOU UP ON THE FIELD!!!!! lol"

They team took Wuefall out of the game on the next series because they didn't want to risk him on a game they were going to win EASILY so close to playoff time. His back up QB???? Marcus Outzen (played for FSU and led them to a title shot in 98)

I'm telling you, that Fort Walton Beach team was L.O.A.D.E.D. with talent that year.

yeah, he didn't pan out too well in the pros.... but he's still a good guy. After his NFL career ended, he did mission work. Still has a charity based in Gainesville.

I suspect Tebow may be just about done in his NFL career, too, now. I believe he's going to do mission work after too. What Wuerfall did AFTER the spotlight was off of him speaks more to his charector and when I became a Wuerfall fan. I hope Tebow can live up to that model that Wuerfall set.

Because asking God to affect the outcome of a ballgame isn't massive hubris or anything...

with hsi ability and even the record at Denver if it wasn't Tim Tebow and his cult of personality no one would be talking about him today. Get over it.

Miami could have used him in the sorta wildcat they tried to run a couple years ago.
At least they would have had a full grown man in the back field and not them mighty mites.

I am sure he is a fine guy, unlike most on the list I provided.

He was just really not cut out for the NFL.

We all know that if a black dual-threat QB came into the NFL and took his team to an 8-4 record and a trip to the playoffs....he would be bulletproof from being cut for at least five years and be heralded as a person "who is changing the way the QB position is being played"........see Mike Vick a/k/a Ron Mexico.....

The NFL is one of the most racist organizations in the country........you do realize that the percentage of whites drafted every year hovers around 25%........

I'm just completely shocked how quickly this thread was brought to race...

Oh well, Tim Tebow is a lot better than people give him credit for. I would definitely put him ahead of Sanchez and Smith just on his prior time as a starting QB. (though my opinion could be swayed if Smith excels.) So many people are hung up on his throwing motion they fail to see his noodle arm has some solid stats, and win/loss record. If I was a team that needed a QB I would take Tebow in a heartbeat.

Quit crying in your drink over Tebow, the fact is he is not an NFL quarterback and the fact that he is white has nothing to do with it. What kills your theory is that the majority of quarterbacks in the NFL are white.

    - - - Updated - - -

What is the % of white quarterbacks over black quarterbacks in the NFL?

Yet Elway, a fine Christian man, didn't blink an eye in trading Tebow away.

Was Elway butthurt because Tebow was more Christian then him? Or do you think that Elway, being the VP of football operations / GM for the Denver Broncos saw a glaring weakness in his team and did the right thing?

I can't wait to read your answer. LOL

Wait, I was under the impression that football was a TEAM game.

    Am I wrong on this?

He got sent packing from Denver because they got Manning, yall seem to have short memories.
And yep, its a team game. And that team sucked before they put him in as QB.

Short memories?? I'm a Broncos fan! And my god I was STOKED we finally got rid of that noodle armed QB for a man much older than Tebow!

Listen, I'm sure he is a great person. But he is an AWFUL PRO QB.

Yes, Denver got Manning. They got an ancient quarterback coming off of 4 neck surgeries and a season on the sidelines.

Now Manning played very, very well last season. But I still think he is one good whack away from retirement.

That being said, how confident was Denver in Tebow that they took a chance on an ancient quarterback with that level of injury history?

Noodle arm. Dudes arms are huge. He is a lefty that throws too side arm.
    Its not a big deal.
Given enough playing time, it could be fixed if needed.
Remember Marino almost went to Denver in 83 but was thought too much of a rebuild project to make a pro out of him.

Exactly. But I'm sure these guys would say Denver got rid of him because he was more Christian then they prefer.

Is that why Denver drafted an Offensive Lineman in 83 when they had a chance to draft one of the 6 QB's that were picked up in the first round that year?

As a Jet fan, I at first thought they were picking up Tebow as a wildcat QB, which I was very excited about because I think his greatest asset as a player is his unpredictability. By midseason, however, it had become quite apparent the the real reason for picking up Tebow was ticket sales, and the Jets business department finessed that all so perfectly (ironically speaking) to Tebow's disadvantage. Tebow could have a place in the NFL, except that there are so few teams interested in truly developing a wildcat offense the way the Jets had when they first picked up Sanchez.

Ironically, Sanchez has won four times the playoff games as Tebow in his first two years in the NFL, and now he's the laughing-stock of the league, so I wouldn't bother putting so much merit in your statistics.

By your logic, there must be a hell of a lot more angry atheists in this country than people let on.

I have always said, Jacksonville has screwed up big time, twice now, by not cashing in on Tebow mania. They needed a qb, Tebow was from the area, and gaytor fans are all over Jacksonville. Getting Tebow would sell out Alltel arena (or whatever they call it nowadays) And it's not like they could have done any worse than they had already been doing.

It's why I think Jacksonville is in the business of shooting themselves in their own foot in order to move, or something. not sure what. But Tebow and Jacksonville were made for each other, and theycontinue to overlook him.

I'm also afraid, due to his celebrity, and a growing number of angry non-Christians who are becoming more and more vocal against ANYTHING Christian..... it won't be long before Tebow is the target of a Sandusky type allegation. Whether it's true or false doesn't matter, I think the longer he remains ESPN's top story, despite not even being the starter of a team, he runs the risk of a hater making an anonymous allegation.

Tebows had his chances and hasn't developed the way he needs to . Too slow and too inaccurate . Some guys make it , most don't . Ryan Leaf and Demarcus russel are two bold examples who come to my mind .

That's exactly why black QBs get coddled.

If Tim tebow was black he'd be a 100 times more famous and those who criticized him would be racist.

Just like those criticized cam newton when he came out.

But tebow is white, like most QBs, so it's ok to hate on him. And boy do they hate on him

Tebow had the oppurtunity to go to Jacksonville when Denver traded him. But his idiot brother told him to choose NY becuase of the higher market there to sell his brand.

That is why Tebow should NOT be listening to his brother in regards to his career.

    - - - Updated - - -

I don't hate Tebow. But I believe he sucks ass as a Pro QB.

Oh, and I think Manning is a million times better. Funny thing though, Manning isn't black. Sooooooooooo, what does that make me?

I'm noticing a trend in black QBs going very high in the draft lately.

I'm also noticing that they're flaming out while white QBs picked in lower rounds are doing well.

I think we'll see a lot of that for the foreseeable future, as colleges win bowl games with gimicky offenses led by black QBs. Those black QBs will go to the pros and underperform

Heck I saw the bengals/redskins game and they were running the OPTION with rg3. Needless to say he was getting killed.
