Proposal would let college admissions officials consider race, gender

So wait, this law repeals a law that PROHIBIT RACISM when enrolling freshmen? How does that help blacks and latinos?

    It turns out:

At first, there was a law called Proposition 209 installed in 1996 to prevent college officials to take race, gender etc. into consideration. So MORE MINORITIES COULD GET ENROLLED.

It WORKED LIKE A CHARM. But not to all minorities, Asians that got enrolled skyrocketed, Latinos and blacks actually dropped.

So now you see where this is going: by repealing prop.209, the college officials could actively select students based on RACE, GENDER ETC., so more BLACK & LATINO students could be enrolled.

In other words, we don't care about your grades, your GPAs and your SAT scores, do you have a dark or brown skin? You do? Into the college you go! Just like how that guy got into the white house, not because of personal merit, but race!

In 1960s, "They" cry and scream and riot to have the same rights as whites when getting into college. Now, in 2014, they cry and scream to have different rights, more precisely, privileges when getting into college.

Dear California, you are stupid, moronic, and insane!

I said it before and I'm gonna say it again, America's downfall looks exactly like Obama's 2 terms. America needs a capable leader, or she is surely doomed! Doomed I tell ya!

Yep, blacks and Hispanics can't compete on merit.........so we have to use the 'people of color' nonsense as an admission criterion.........this after Obummer just announced yet another multi-million dollar initiative to help students 'of color'. We are going to get to the point that we are spending all of our resources and falsely admitting minorities to our institutions of higher learning.....the Chinese really must be laughing their arses off at us. Why can't we just understand that if the dog can't jump over the fence then no amount of steak on the other side.........and no amount of beating will make the dog jump over the fence. There are documented differences in IQ amongst the races........we can't change that fact with laws.

thought we already had affirmative action which allows them to consider race and gender, just can't have quotas which have been if I'm not mistaken deemed unconstitutional

Many places do have the racist affirmative action college entrance policies, which are there a perfectly legal form of segregation and racism.

This is just California. California previously resisted this, but if they do this legal measure, they will be jumping on board with the racist bandwagon, under the silly premise of fostering diversity.

People need to learn: You can't always have both equality and diversity. Sometimes, they conflict based on the demographics. Diversity is nice, but it's not nearly as important as equality. Affirmative action is merely the way to force diversity by throwing equality out the window. It's purely racist.

Affirmative action sometimes includes goals, and it isn't even binding, because if you don't reach the goal in the timeline, you just extend the timeline. I am against segregation, and laws that favor a certain race, gender, or anything else. The best qualified should always get picked, regardless of color, gender etc etc
    nited States

Main article: Affirmative action in the United States

The concept of affirmative action was introduced in the early 1960s in the United States, as a way to combat racial discrimination in the hiring process and, in 1967, the concept was expanded to include sex. Affirmative action was first created from Executive Order 10925, which was signed by President John F. Kennedy on 6 March 1961 and required that government employers "not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, creed, color, or national origin" and "take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment, without regard to their race, creed, color, or national origin".[SUP][19][/SUP]
On 24 September 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed Executive Order 11246, thereby replacing Executive Order 10925 and affirming Federal Government's commitment "to promote the full realization of equal employment opportunity through a positive, continuing program in each executive department and agency".[SUP][4][/SUP] Affirmative action was extended to women by Executive Order 11375 which amended Executive Order 11246 on 13 October 1967, by adding "sex" to the list of protected categories. In the U.S. affirmative action's original purpose was to pressure institutions into compliance with the nondiscrimination mandate of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.[SUP][8][/SUP] The Civil Rights Acts do not cover veterans, people with disabilities, or people over 40. These groups are protected from discrimination under different laws.[SUP][20][/SUP]
Affirmative action has been the subject of numerous court cases,[SUP][21][/SUP] and has been questioned upon its constitutional legitimacy. In 2003, a Supreme Court decision regarding affirmative action in higher education (Grutter v. Bollinger, 539 US 244 – Supreme Court 2003) permitted educational institutions to consider race as a factor—a small plus factor—when admitting students, but ruled that strict point systems, such as the one previously used by the University of Michigan Law School, are unconstitutional.[SUP][22][/SUP] Alternatively, some colleges use financial criteria to attract racial groups that have typically been under-represented and typically have lower living conditions. Some states such as California (California Civil Rights Initiative), Michigan (Michigan Civil Rights Initiative), and Washington (Initiative 200) have passed constitutional amendments banning affirmative action within their respective states. Conservative activists have alleged that colleges quietly use illegal quotas and have launched numerous lawsuits to stop them.[SUP][23][/SUP]
that's essentially all affirmative action is saying. You can't discriminate. Affirmative Action is one of the most misunderstood laws we have
Not sure how anyone can be against taking affirmative action to ensure no discrimination is taking place

And neither can you. This line removed any merit you might have inherited from your parents. Pissed it all away.

Why do people NEVER learn such a simple lesson as two wrongs don't make a right. Discrimination is discrimination.

Actually, the really very sad thing is that we've lost colorblindness.

    MLK would be crying.

Can we not just treat everyone on their merits??

I guess the politics (gov'ment) play to that deviousness...

...and, yet, many folk here want more and more of the same.

The beauty of the internet is that we all can claim to be extremely successful, and never have to worry about proving it ;)

Two posts, two identical filthy lies.

The biggest beneficiaries of racial affirmative action are the enormous numbers of students admitted to college because of "legacy" policies, both official and unofficial that, to this day, perpetuate the official racism in law and policy that continued into the 1980s.

Completely ignoring the competitive advantage given to white kids because the evidence is plain that the best way to ensure a child making into and through college is to have parents who graduated from college. But until the 60's most blacks wouldn't be considered for admittance into most colleges regardless of scholastic achievement, or even wealth so their children are blocked in a powerful way as well. In both family wealth and educational standards, most minority kids are starting from scratch.

But NEVER NEVER NEVER will these advocates of "color-blindness" EVER raise their voice or their Republican Right Wing legislatures to block that continuation of racism.

Please explain how Japanese Americans - the vast majority born here - have higher rates of college education than White Americans.

Yea, well dunno about "Republicans" or "Democrats" for that matter...but us, fiscal and Constitutional conservatives are absolute "color blind".

We care about ones principle and merit, rather than color, sex, religion and orientation.

You Dem/Statists own that devisionism .

Look a racist! Over there another racist! Ahhh a racist! You're a racist! And another racist! Crap racists are coming out of the walls!

Holy hell dave, is there anything that isn't racist to a liberal?

Ok, listen, I didn't want to say anything but I'm actually a member of the liberal elite shot callers organization and I wanted to share with you the minutes from our final meeting on this matter:

Liberal Overlord 01: I hereby call this meeting of the Everybody's A Racist Except Us Society to order. Today's agenda will be to develop yet another plan to oppress the Black populations ability for growth and self sufficiency. Does anybody have a suggestion on how we can continue to accomplish this objective?

Liberal Overlord 02: I know, lets require educational and workplace institutions to accept Blacks solely because they're Black.

    Liberal Overlord 01: Interesting, continue.

Liberal Overlord 02: If we condition Blacks to believe they are owed a position, that others usually earn through hard work, we can remove their ambition for putting in said hard work. Sure a few Blacks get their free position but they will lack the skills necessary to harness the full potential and those that don't get one will be conditioned to blame somebody for it.

Liberal Overlord 01: But surely intelligent people will see through this scam, what of them?

Liberal Overlord 02: We'll just call anybody that speaks out against it a big ol' redneckin' racist!

Liberal Overlord 01: Outstanding! So we throw out a few token positions and while everybody is distracted with our ruse we continue with the next item on our agenda to keep Blacks stuck in a permanent underclass!

    Liberal Overlord 02: Yup!

Liberal Overlord 01: Ok lets hit the press with this quick so that the sheeple of America can push it on internet forums.

If anything, it's the indians and Asians are outraged by SCA5.

Articles from two Chinese news agency:
    http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/845089.shtml#.UxPJX4U6tdo
    http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/china/2014-02/22/c_133135249.htm

And a black female who merrily dissing out her view "I get why my asian friends are upset and outraged..."

    http://mandarinmama.wordpress.com/tag/vote-yes-on-sca5/

Oh no sweetie, you don't, just like others can't possibly understand your victimhood mentality and how something abolished 150+ years ago still has an impact on you.

Well, you really have to look at the alternative California is facing.

Definition of Problem, from the Rodent Perspective:
Not enough of the Rodent PREFERRED minorities get into college thanks to racism (remember, that's the Rodent perspective.

What are the solution options available to the Rodents?

    1) They can brute force racism back into the college admissions process. This clearly is what the Rodents want, since is gives THEM power over the victim whereas presently the student has power over his own future WORKING FOR IT. That such a dangerous idea the Rodents fear their slave constituencies might catch on.

    2) They can figure out why their preferred minorities SUCK academically. Except, of course, they already KNOW why that is. It's the outcome the Rodents want from public schools. So they won't fix the schools, the goonions would never accepts any change that would require people hired as teachers to show teaching ability.

    3) They can Blame Bush.

So they're doing #1, and #3 is a perpetual motion machine.

    That's what the DemocRATs believe.

Why else would they throw out merit based advancement in favor of racism, if they didn't believe their slave-races couldn't compete as well as the non-slave races that reject Rodentology?

It's true though. For those of us who study economics, business and have high aspirations, a mere million is nothing(especially after taxation.) It's guys like Levon that actually suffer the Obama Administration the worse.

These are the "rich" who have to subsidize these failed programs, and they lose head and foot over it. And so we become Somalia: Equal in poverty!

    Lower that wage Gap/equality baby!

    150 years?
Apartheid rule in the US was abolished like 50 years ago.
It caused an entire race to be impoverished.
And nothing, absolutely nothing was done to undo the wrong.

That generation who suffered from it, is still alive.
That generation who suffered, was unable to pay for college education of the next geneation.
And so poverty is being passed down from one to the next for the masses.
And only the lucky few can escape.

While on the other side the white racists benafitted for centuaries.
Did nothing to undo it. And they are passing down their financial benafits to the next generation.
And only the unlucky few drop down to poverty.

No doubt,.. that at this rate it will take centuaries to even things out.

What a fAntastic spoof of what really is going on. Some people are just too naive to notice. It's sad on every level too. You laugh but cry on the inside. Look on corporation websites for the Diversity sections. Isn't that enough proof that we've gone over the edge.
