Too much CO2 causing a climate crisis? Why not just plan stuff?

I would add to that, plant stuff.

Why do we talk about 0 emissions (stop having sex. You breath more when having sex which is causing a climate crisis) rather than just plant stuff.

Through terra-forming we could build waterways into arid areas and reclaim deserts and cover them in plant life that consumes CO2 and produces oxygen. The Sahara by itself is nearly the size of CONUS.

Why not do this rather than, metaphorically speaking, ram a cork up our own butts, forever?

 

China sure doesn't seem to give a damn about their carbon footprint

 

The world is 15 percent greener since the 90's as a result of both China and India planting stuff. Plants love c02.

But I agree. If we were concerned about carbon capture, then there would be a strong push in chopping down and maintaining old brush in favor of new growth.

 

Where is the water to fill these waterways going to come from?

 

I didn't know about china and India planting trees. Pity that some South American, African and other South Asian countries won't do the same.

 

Earth has 71% of it covered by water. Much (most?) is salt water. Desalinating it can actually produce electricity.
Places like MIT are working on ways to use it to water crops. I've read the Israelis have been doing this for decades producing citrus fruit.

 

I think Canada is the dumbest nation on the planet. They have a vast amount of land committed to forestry. Some 350million hector's. Enough to make their country carbon negative. (meaning it would absorb anything Canada could pump into the atmosphere as well as soak in some of their neighboring country's pollution.)



But Canada's forest is not maintained. It's aged out, is old. And dying. To the point that It's currently a carbon negative right now. So in true liberal dipshit fashion. Instead of using what the earth gave ya to deal with the c02 ****, spending money and resources en mass to clean up old growth and plant new, carbon soaking growth... the Trudeau government has opted instead to carbon tax his population into oblivion.

If global warming was really a thing, the solutions these western nations are coming up with are STUPID AS ****ING HELL. Which makes the entire movement ridiculous.

But to your point, both South Africa and especially Australia...seem to need to be planting more ****ing trees.

There is a water cycle. It doesn’t “come” from anywhere. It’s here. We just have to do a better job managing it.

You can look into Gaddafi’s “Great Man Made River” if you want an example of what can be done.

Aquifers can be completely sustainable water sources when managed correctly. They can also be used only temporarily as a source to transform decertified land back to productive land. “Green” areas create precipitation where none or little existed before.

We have the knowledge to do essentially what the OP suggests. Just no political will to do it. People like Geoff Lawton are DOING it. But few are interested in solutions that leverage the tools nature provides us.

 

If you look at what's happening in China it makes no sense why NYC would ban wook burning pizza ovens - all 18 of them - but not the wood burning pizza ovens in backyards all while they have three major airports sitting right on top of them.

I'm figuring this has less to do with will than an outright desire to destroy the middle class, prosperity and help an elite create a global totalitarian state. And Charles Schwab of the WEF now states not only will we own nothing and be happy, but we should end having these silly elections.

Our atmosphere is currently 0.04% CO2,
CO^2 naturally ranges up to 0.2% when the world is unusually lush and teeming with food and life.

The Climate "Crisis" isn't about the climate, it's about power and control.

The Sahara gets 3 inches rainfall per year and comes in flash floods and there is something called evaporation so not sure why you have talked about boiling point of water. Perhaps you should "see" how clouds form?

There are basically 3 types of environmentalist. The elites you refer to are one.

1) Elites that know the truth but disinform the public about the facts to gain profit and power. They don’t want a solution to environmental problems because the problems are their cash cow.

2) The public who swallow the disinformation from elites are the second group. Many of these believe they are basing their beliefs on evidence even though what they have been led to believe is opposed to scientific evidence. They are being used.

3). Real environmentalists that follow the actual science on what the problems are and look to science and nature for solutions.

 

They are not planting trees to offset carbon emissions.

They understand forests protect soils, reduce or eliminate flooding, retain water in soils to avoid flood/drought cycles, reduce silting of lowland waterways to further ameliorate flooding, moderate rainfall patterns, provide local cooling especially of summer high temps, recharge aquifers, etc., etc.
