Trump’s ‘marching orders’ to the Pentagon: Plan a grand military parade

President Trump’s vision of soldiers marching and tanks rolling down the boulevards of Washington is moving closer to reality in the Pentagon and White House, where officials say they have begun to plan a grand military parade later this year showcasing the might of America’s armed forces.

“The marching orders were: I want a parade like the one in France,” said a military official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the planning discussions are supposed to remain confidential. “This is being worked at the highest levels of the military.”

Yes, the term treasonous doesn't seem to be well understood by several of our leaders these days. I agree that it's disturbing to hear the President be so glib with the term.

I'm not sure whether news of a military parade would have had a negative response had there not been so much divisiveness happening.

 

The US military defeated ISIS. They EARNED a victory parade.

 

This is what - and WHO - the Democratic Party and so many Democrats openly HATE, HATE, HATE! They openly call those American military personal "fascists." There are many reasons to truly despise the Democratic Party.



Personally, I believe the National Democratic Party should be put on the list of domestic terrorist organizations.

 

Our military definitely deserves recognition but generally they aren't interested in parading around in front of political leaders.

I'm also very careful to claim victory. We should always be diligent. But your point is well taken.

That's a very broad sweeping accusation but I know there is little trust between the parties these days.

We should all appreciate and respect our men and women who serve.

Setting aside whatever our political leaning is we have to consider what this means.

It will cost a lot of money to have the military put on a parade. Our military men and women are generally opposed to these type of activities. Not withstanding the fact that they're not interested in being placed in the spotlight they are required to put in long hours practicing and getting the military equipment in pristine condition.

Our military is already stretched thin so to ask them to spit and shine up for a parade that is merely for optics is very shortsighted, imo.

 

That is a very popular opinion among a certain element but unfortunately that opinion is confined to inmates of hospitals for the criminally insane.

 

When I was young I recall we used to have an Armed Forces Day and in the small city I grew up in we had a parade on Armed Forces Day. In fact I marched in it the one and only year Inwas in ROTC.

We need to bring back Armed Forces Day. With a real parade not somevphony Trump Putin Kim Wung Dung staged parade.

Sadly my last two military ID cards now say United States Uniformed Services. My old military retiree card Armed Forces ...................... I think that the changed occurred about 12 years ago!

Are air shows a bad thing now? I like air shows but don’t want to get harangued for attending one.

 

Air shows are definitely not a bad thing. I've never attended one in person but it's on my list.

 

Yeah, that was really creepy, IMO.

 

A) ISIS is still going. Weakened - but still going.

B) Other countries (collectively) had a FAR bigger hand in defeating ISIS then America did (like Syria, Russia, Iran, Iraq, the Kurds, Hezbollah of Lebanon, etc.).

You want to give a BIG military parade for partially defeating an organization with virtually no air force or navy plus most of their fighters were paid mercenaries?

I think this could have the exact opposite impact desired. People are likely to ask themselves how devoted this man really is, to honoring THE PEOPLE who wore that uniform and wear it now. If they smell fraud or fake patriotism, Americans tend to hold their noses and ask how much of their hard earned money was spent so that he could look like a commander-in chief for the cameras.

Apparently, America's first deficit under Trump will be about a trillion dollars...why not add more money to that for a useless parade, primarily to pad his ego?

I have news for you people, the US never defeated ISIS, because they were never fighting ISIS. It was merely an excuse to fight Assad, and keep him from defeating ISIS.

As soon as Putin told the Russian people that they had defeated ISIS and the troops were going home, Trump in the usual Washington fashion, decided to come out with another lie and say the US defeated ISIS - while knowing very well that they did one sortie to every 30 Russian ones.

But as the saying goes, if a lie is repeated enough people will believe it.
