Trump can pay smaller bond in civil fraud case as judge sets April date for hush money trial

A New York appeals court has given Donald Trump 10 more days to post his bond to satisfy the civil fraud judgement and cut the amount necessary to $175 million.

It's a major lifeline for the former president, who, along with his adult sons and his company, were fined more than $464 million, including interest, after Judge Arthur Engoron found Trump and his co-defendants fraudulently inflated the value of his assets.

Note that the family still cannot run Trump Org. and none of the other sanctions were touched. The money must still be overseen by his court-appointed babysitter, so he won't be able to go to Uncle Vlad for the money.

I don't believe he can even come up with $175,000,000 without selling his limited ownership in some of these properties, which are in debt up to his eyeballs. He doesn't really even own Trump Tower any longer - in 2021 that ownership transferred to GMAC Commercial.

You do realize his Truth Social just got approved to go public and now his stock is worth about 3 billion right? Hate to tell you selling this case is now about to go buy buy and all that cash NY's spent on getting Trump is going to be gone due to an unprecedented lawsuit with no victim and no fraud. I will say I love the left's circle jerk on the unfairness going on in the NY courts, they as usual can't see past trump and realize it will come back to hurt their side, it always does.

 

The judgment has not been reduced. Just the amount of the bond he needs to post.

Like every other trump based scheme, it is destined to fail as their is no plan to invest in the company, just get people to buy the stock and then, like he did with Trump Casinos, he will loot the money. In Trump casinos, Trump was allowed to take as much money as he wanted as “CIO”, in this one he cant do that.

The “3 Billion” everyone claims he will have, will be from the stock value, and he has the lions share. If he sells it all to cover his debt, the stock will be worthless. He’s in a catch 22.

But I will bet good money, that he will, just like Trump Casinos, get his money out first, those deleting the stock price the the company will go under. This is just another scheme to steel from the rubes. SO please, all of you Trumpers please buy Trump entertainment stock…….

That'll come later. Or hell, it'll be the new total amount sum. The reason the court did this, is that it was absurd to anyone with common English decency, will, and a matter of law. Had they sticked with the $500 mill, I Would've loved to had seen the 6th/8th Amendment litigations.

I suspect that if it stayed 500 mill, SCOTUS or heck even a regional court would have ruled that the fine constituted cruel and unusual punishment, reducing the fine to a payable amount.

The reason this is important is that we as a union cannot live in a country where courts engage in extortion, even of the guilty.
