As I watched today's hearings on the 2nd Impeachment of the Orange Oaf, I had to shake my head in disbelief as the lawyers for the defense took one good valid point and over shadowed it with the very lame/failed propagandistic tactics used by Dump and company over the last 4 years. I refer to the famous quote from Dump regarding the protests and then assault in Charlottesville, VA in 2017 that there were “very fine people, on both sides” of the conflict based on removal of a statue of Confederate Army leader Robert E. Lee. The defense showed THE ENTIRE VIDEO CLIP, which has Dump making clear he was talking about the law abiding citizens who got a premit to peacefully protest the removal of the statue, and NOT the violent white suppremacists types. This is contrary to the "edited" version on MSM which suggested otherwise. Here, they had a clear cut case of liberal media bias, which could be used by conservatives on other subjects in the near future. It would have planted the seed of doubt into Senator's minds IF the defense lawyers didn't continue with severely edited videos of their own, coupled with parroting of dubious Dump rhetoric about how great and patriotic he is and the chain of events on Jan. 6th. And the beat goes on.
Bullshyte. "The affiliations of the organizers were also clear. Jason Kessler, a “pro-white” activist, filed the permits for the rally. On a radio show before the event, Kessler said, “the number one thing is I want to destigmatize Pro-White advocacy. … I want a huge, huge crowd, and that’s what we’re going to have, to come out and support not just the Lee monument but also white people in general, because it is our race which is under attack.” In fact, going back through the promotional materials for Unite the Right, it is fascinating just how little the statue of Lee, or honoring Confederate veterans, seemed to matter to the organizers and attendees of Unite the Right, an event that, despite its name, had nothing to do with conservatism writ large." https://www.vox.com/2019/4/26/18517980/trump-unite-the-right-racism-defense-charlottesville
That's all well and good....doesn't change the FACT that the entire clip shows Dump explaining in detail the difference between peaceful, legitimate protestors with legal permits and the racist yahoos that started trouble. This doesn't exxonerate the Orange Oaf from all the other heinous crap he pulled in the last 4 years or his accountability for the Jan. 6th insurrection. My point is that if you lie to convict, that lie may be exposed and be crucial in the accused defense. Well, in the end the fix was in anyway. Now the majority of the GOP can run in upcoming elections, campaigning with Dump's supporters that they did the "right thing". Hopefully, the NY courts and the IRS will have something to say about all that.
