So Trump is in a financial crisis, to the tune of a half billion bucks.

So now he is going to bring back Manafort?

    Who was Manafort?

He was the guy who extracted millions from Kremlin connected Russian Oligarchs, running their PR campaigns to keep Ukraine under Kremlin control, then ran Trump's campaign briefly, then was convicted and sentenced to prison, only to be pardoned by Trump (yeah, oh yeah 'hoax' my ass).

    What's the connection?

    Okay, Trump needs millions.

No American bank or bond company wants to help him out of his predicament.

Manafort knows how to get big bucks from Russians.

    Do the math.

Excuse me for calling Trump a Putin Puppet, or a Kremlin Useful Idiot.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/03/18/trump-manafort-2024-campaign/

The former campaign manager was pardoned by Trump for bank and tax fraud convictions and accusations he hid millions he made consulting for pro-Russian Ukrainian politicians

Former president Donald Trump is expected to enlist Paul Manafort, the former campaign manager he pardoned, as a campaign adviser later this year, according to four people familiar with the talks.

The job discussions have largely centered on the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee in July and could include Manafort playing a role in fundraising for the presumptive GOP nominee’s campaign, according to these people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private deliberations. While no formal decision has been made, the four people described the hiring as expected and said Trump was determined to bring Manafort back into the fold.

In case you are wondering about Manafort, here are the headlines going on when Manafort was running Trump's campaign:

Before Manafort became Trump's campaign manager, for years he was working
for Kremlin aligned oligarchs, he was running political campaigns to benefit
    Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/18/us/politics/senate-intelligence-russian-interference-report.html

A sprawling report released...by a Republican-controlled Senate Panel...laid out an extensive web of contacts between Trump campaign advisers and Kremlin officials and other Russians, including at least one intelligence officer and others tied to the country's spy services.

The report by the Senate Intelligence committee, totally nearly 1000 pages...about the expansive Russian campaign to sabotage the 2016 election...provided a bipartisan Senate imprimatur for an extraordinary set of facts: The Russian Government disrupted an American election to help Mr. Trump become president, Russian intelligence viewed members of the Trump campaign as easily manipulated, and some of Mr. Trump's advisers were eager for the help from and American adversary.

Mr Manafort discussed campaign strategy and shared internal polling data with the Russian intel officer and later lied to federal investigators about his actions.

If the above doesn't equal 'collusion' it does equal 'Russian Useful Idiot".

And now Trump wants to rehire him?

Wake up and smell the fascism.

My impression is that Manafort was just one of a number of American political consultants who went to the former Soviet Union, probably with the encouragement of the US government, to bring US democratic political methods to the newly independent former republics of the USSR.

He got a little too greedy, worked for candidates and parties disfavored by State, and stayed a little too long. Otherwise not particularly different from other US political operatives.

If it's more than Trump is worth, then it's more proof that the fine violates the 8th Amendment.

Absolutely she would! Her problem is too many scruples. Trump has to surround himself with people who would be willing to commit felonies for him. We'll see if Manafort is THAT eager to go back to jail.

Of course, need to get the foreign dark monies into the RNC and the convention so they can launder it to The Manchurian Candidate and his R Congress.

You are referring to the same person who broke the law for years by receiving, sending and storing classified on a server which was not approved for that purpose and which was not properly protected? Is that the Hilary you are talking about?

Hate to break it to you, but apparently it wasn't a prosecutable crime. And it had NOTHING to do with lack of scruples but more with being careless. But if you're THAT concerned about crime, I'm sure you'll do EVERYTHING in your power to keep the guy who HAS committed prosecutable crimes and surrounds himself with people with NO scruples from becoming your President... right?

    ....RIGHT?

Because if you aren't willing to do that, what is the purpose of even explaining any of this to you?

From the BING AI search engine:
    1. Tax Fraud Charges: Manafort was found guilty of five tax fraud charges.
    2. Hiding Foreign Bank Accounts: He was also convicted on one charge of hiding foreign bank accounts.
    3. Bank Fraud: Additionally, Manafort faced two counts of bank fraud.
The jury declared a mistrial on ten other charges where they could not reach a consensus12. His possible sentence could be a maximum of 80 years in prison1. It’s important to note that these convictions were related to financial crimes and not directly tied to Russian collusion1.

The right has no desire to help Ukraine.

The cost of helping Ukraine isn't more than 5% of the defense budget, and the benefit is of immense
    strategic value.

As long as Putin is attacking Russia, he is no 'friend' we want to cozy up to.

    He is the enemy.

If she is that careless, she should not be holding any kind of office. How do you get an uncertified server and then receive, transmit and store classified information on this uncertified server by being careless? It appears to be that would require someone to be very deliberate in their actions.
As I have said numerous times, I do not want either Biden or Trump as my president. It appears that you are the one without scruples.

    She's not.

Well... you're going to get one of them. So, "I do not want either..." reminds me of the 7 year old who exclaims: "but I don't want to ride the car OR the bus to school!"

You should have outgrown that attitude by now... But if you haven't, this is your opportunity.

You can dislike whatever you want. But you'd have to be 7 to resolve the choice between two bad options by ignoring REALITY.

Of course! I'm not 7! How about you?

When she ran against Trump, I did not vote for either one of them.
The reality is that my vote will not make any difference, but I still have to live with myself.

Why not put the old criminal band together? Stone, Flynn, Gates, Manafort, Papadopoulos, etc., Cuz what could possibly be wrong with Trump hiring the guy who repeatedly met with a Russian intel operative and give him proprietary polling data?

G.O.P.-Led Senate Panel Details Ties Between 2016 Trump Campaign and Russia

WASHINGTON — A sprawling report released Tuesday by a Republican-controlled Senate panel that spent three years investigating Russia’s interference in the 2016 election laid out an extensive web of contacts between Trump campaign advisers and Kremlin officials and other Russians, including at least one intelligence officer and others tied to the country’s spy services.

The report by the Senate Intelligence Committee, totaling nearly 1,000 pages, drew to a close one of the highest-profile congressional investigations in recent memory and could be the last word from an official government inquiry about the expansive Russian campaign to sabotage the 2016 election.

It provided a bipartisan Senate imprimatur for an extraordinary set of facts: The Russian government disrupted an American election to help Mr. Trump become president, Russian intelligence services viewed members of the Trump campaign as easily manipulated, and some of Mr. Trump’s advisers were eager for the help from an American adversary.
