The Democratic-led House Ways and Means Committee has approved a motion to release the materials surrounding Donald Trump's tax returns to the House of Representatives, clearing the way for those materials to be made public.

It is unclear when the public will see these materials. The vote was approved with all Democrats voting in favor and all Republicans voting no.

The committee said it will redact personal information from the documents.

You think the average American can understand the type of tax documents filed by the typical billionaire? The vast majority of the left will just screech and show how ignorant they are about basic math and financial matters.

Why start or stop with Biden? Trump isn't even the current President. We've got lots of former presidents we need to dig into. Time to revisit Obama, the Clintons, and many more. They all seem to have quite a few MEDIA deals they've made before after office that need lots of scrutiny. Seems like all the Democrats get book and media deals for things no one reads, watches, etc and they get paid VERY WELL for them.

The Democrats are setting a very bad precedent with this. Tax documents are private records and just throwing them out there opens up the possibility for other private records being demanded and put out there.

I mean ol'Joe has some very private medical records that I demand to see since he is currently president and appears to not be mentally competent. Let's just have the Republicans sue and take his medical records as a matter of national security.

I don't know what you mean by Biden's "complete financial profile"-- can you even explain, what would be in this, and where the information would come from?-- but Republicans would have no way of getting this information, without the Supreme Court OKaying it (which seems doubtful, because even they would be able to recognize that this would be an escalation that would be available, then, to both sides of the aisle). That was not a consideration, in this case, because Presidential candidates, other than Trump, already release their taxes-- so allowing Trump's to be released, does not change the status quo (as allowing the invasive-sounding thing, you are talking about, would). And without an order from the SCOTUS, what other means would be available to Republicans--
subpoenaing it? Republicans have set the precedent, with the J6 Committee, of just ignoring Congressional subpoenas. And since no Republican office holder, was held accountable for that, good luck getting the Attorney General, Garland, to arrest Biden for not complying with whatever unprecedented requests, you are envisioning.

It ain't gonna happen, but if it makes you feel better, pretending there's a chance in hell of that being a realistic expectation-- knock yourself out.

 

IF that is the case......it would suggest tat the "left" is more accepting of diversity and the Right is far more judgmental and rejecting of same..

 

Or it would suggest the left has a lot more cases of mental illness

I say

release the records

and use him as an example like they used to do every year to curb tax evasion

they stopped doing this when the IRS began to go after the wrong people

a priest testified before congress about being harassed by the IRS which took the wind out of their sails

remember Leona Helmsly?? she was sentenced on April 15th to get the headlines

how about Martha Stewert?? also used as a deterrent ..

The IRS is required to audit sitting presidents tax returns while they are in office.

The IRS did not do that while Trump was president.
