    2023–2024 Winter Reliability Assessment
    https://www.nerc.com/pa/RAPA/ra/Reliability Assessments DL/NERC_WRA_2023.pdf

    - The lack of gas infrastructure in case of frost could lead to a large part of the U.S. population being cut off from electricity;
    - the first reason is the shock increase of loads on the energy system in case of frost, i.e. a thing that can be planned and put into the reserves of the energy system (with sufficient investments and reasonable regulation);
    - the second reason is just regulation, which, by emphasizing torn generation and its subsidization, has made reasonable strategies for managing these risks impossible, because the energy sector will not work at a loss;

    The readiness of the energy system for winter peaks and capacity reservation is already a complex engineering task, but when it is supplemented by a poorly predictable sawtooth with its surges and risks, and a development that is managed not by engineers but by politicians and amateurs of corruption schemes, it is unsolvable.

    Here in California Democrats have a monopoly and like the idiots they are they have been blocking utilities from adding needed natural gas storage systems and even told them not to stock up on natural gas last winter. Which caused prices to skyrocket even as the rest of the US has record low prices. The Democrats also want to shut down all the natural gas powered power plants in the state when they literally supply 70% of the state's night time power and the Dems are demanding 3veryobe spend tens of thousands of dollars converting 3v3rything in their houses to electricity and to buy electric cars. They will all be useless without electricity.

    These Dems are idiots, they have massively drove up the cost of living here with their lies about climate change and not a single one of their policies actually did anything for the environment. Anyone who voted for these frauds is a fool.

    Napoleon III said, "It doesn't matter how they vote, it matters how they count." And apparently the election commissioners in California follow that rule.
    But that doesn't negate the huge number of idiots who vote Democrat.

    Republicans have a monopoly in Texas, where there were catastrophic power losses leading to fatalities as a result of that state's uniquely shitty power grid.

    But do go on imagining that Democrats in California are worse. California isn't even identified as one of the areas at elevated risk according to NERC.

    Texas will probably have issues again, they do not winterize their gas, solar and wind, etc....

    I've got firewood, and the wood stove that wasn't up to emissions standards and thus sits out in the woodshed now can be brought back in and re-installed in less than an hour.

    ...and since the carbon cult is apparently OK with burning trees... :rolleyes:

    Who is better, Democrats or Republicans, comparing California and Texas can be determined through the number of homeless, drug addicts and criminals. Where are there more of them? In California or in Texas?

    It's just off topic. It's obvious you want to avoid talking discussing the point I made earlier.

    No more smog like in the '70s, thanks to Dems, for example. Btw, you'll be driving an EV in the not too distant future, you just don't know it yet. Btw, I drive and EV and have a PV system, TOU rates and net metering, I have a small negative monthly electric 'bill' from SCal Edison. Sure beats pumping gas. ymmv

    Are you really trying to compare a once in 100 year natural disaster to a 100% man made financial disaster?
