Substantial drop in standard of living.
Non-existent roads outside of major metro areas.
Rampant corruption leading to infrastructure project expenditures going way over the costs of similar projects in cleaner countries.
Widespread poverty, lack of basics outside the cities, such as sewers, running water.
Economy is stagnating.
Space program is nearly dead - it’s alive simply because Americans are paying for the cost of the whole rocket for just 1 seat. No successful scientific space mission was launched under his watch as a president and a PM.
No freedom of press.
Look at murders of freelance journalists and opposition leaders!
No checks and balances - parliament never does anything against his will, courts don’t overturn his decisions. I read somewhere not long ago that I’m russia is you are charged with a crime your chance of acquittal is at 2%. Which means judges are siding with prosecution and the court is not independent.
Look at images of hospitals in Russia! I’d prefer to be shot instead of ever setting my foot there.

I listen to and study Putin a lot. I've been in Russia multiple times, as well as Ukraine...even Belarus, the last dictatorship in Europe. I don't think for a second that Putin is interested in 'bringing back the soviet union'. He only got Crimea back because of the vote of the people. He's finished as far as acquiring territory. Russia proper is back to it's state at the time of WW2. The current boundary lines are the same as in 1944. He knows what gets him elected, and it damn sure isn't harkening back to the days of the Soviet Union.....which is why it would be political suicide to try to bring it back.

Russia was a failed state in 1992. What has been done in less that 3 decades is nothing short of miraculous. Russians love capitalism, hate communism and hate paying taxes. They've got it figured out.

To me Putin represents honour... he is an honourable man and prepared to do what no one else will. This reflected in his generosity to provide a safe space for 15 000 South Africans who have been vilified and smeared by millions of people (the leftists in the west). It matters not what insults you post on here about Vladimir Putin, a man's true self is represented by his actions.
