Hi, I'm having some difficulty with the site. It seems on a few threads I am unable to navigate to the last pages. I can navigate to all other pages, save the very last. It's only doing this on two threads that I have noticed so far. I don't know if I was kicked from these threads or if its just a site hick-up. An explination or idea of what the problem is would be most helpful and appreciated. Thank you for your time.
I had the same issue, though only with one thread. That one seems OK for me now. The symptons make me suspect it was some kind of technical issue.
It's happened to me, possible the most frustrating thing ever Unfortunately usually you have to wait for the forum software to be updated with most of these problems.
D: It's soo frustrating. It's like I KNOW THERE IS A REPLY TO ME ON THAT PAGE!!! Haha oh well, it happens.
Just so to avoid continued repetitive threads on this issue, I'll sticky this thread for now. Thanks Shangrila Site Moderator
Seems to be a site glitch. I could view the threads after it passed onto the next page. Just the page in those two threads. Odd but I've seen stranger things on forums before.
I have noticed this when it's the first post on a new page. I think the poster is attempting to either edit or delete the post and it stays like that until the next item is posted. But, I could be wrong, as most people keep telling me.
You're right about the editing of the first post on a new page. But for me at least it doesn't allow me to view that page period. When the next page comes up however I can see it, just not the original page I had trouble with.
Interesting about first person editing post but when it happens it goes on for longer for me. I suspect till he forum goes for it's daily maintenance. I have though found a way how I can see the page. It has worked every time but one and this has happened to me several times. If you use firefox, go to tools, private browsing and click to go on that. Then you can usually see the page and reply.
It's doing it again - how frustrating. Also, when I use a third-party spell-checker on this site, and try to use the auto-correct function, it scrambles words together, making it even worse. This is the only site it happens with. On many occasions, I get a pop-up window that asks me if I want to "Leave this page" or "stay on this page". It drives me crazy. There are so many glitches with this site, and it is still slow as hell. What's going on?
Among many others I've also encountered this problem frequently. The way around it is to change the page number in the http address. For example on this thread where the first page has address: hxttp://www.politicalforum.com/forum-help-feedback-etc/260929-unable-view-last-page-some-threads.html now this is the first page so the number is omitted but to go to the second page just add "-2" like this: hxttp://www.politicalforum.com/forum-help-feedback-etc/260929-unable-view-last-page-some-threads-2.html Now to the next problem I have and that is I can't post this by simply clicking the "Post Quick Reply" button which just gets me a message telling me I'm not permitted to post! The way around this one is to click the "Go Advanced" button which sometimes leads to a log in page and sometimes goes directly to the advanced reply page from where I can press the "Submit Reply" button. Before doing all that though I copy paste the whole reply as sometimes it al crashes and I'd otherwise lose all the work I'd done. Yep this site has its challenges!
I have had this issue many times. Most recently on page 29 of this topic. In addition to the already mentioned work-arounds, you can also view the last few posts by clicking the reply to thread button, going to full editor, and scrolling down.
Also a few other things, in my experience, even if you view the contents of the last posts and even if you manage to reply to the topic, the topic itself will not be marked as read. The problem does not seem to affect subsequent pages, so once additional posts push the topic to a new page, the tread will from that point on function normally, though the page originally affected will still be inaccessible.
This didn't work for me. I was trying to view page 27 of this thread, but could only view page 26 and previous pages. When I replaced 26 with 27 in the URL, and hit refresh, page 26 simply refreshed. I randomly picked page 8 of that thread, replaced the thread number in the URL, hit refresh, and was momentarily taken to page 8 before being redirected to page 26, once again. Obviously, something specific about a member's post is being tied to a specific page. Here's what happened prior to my issue. 1) My post, which ended up on page 27, would have been the last post on page 26, but someone submitted a post shortly before I did, which pushed my post onto page 27. Perhaps this has something to do with it. 2) After typing my reply, (which I initiated through the "reply with quote" button) and then hitting the "post quick reply" button, the screen simply shifted as if I'd originally hit the "reply to thread" button. Then the whole "would you like to leave this page" thing happened... and like usual, I just hit "leave page" because I know that my post has already been submitted, despite the prompt, and if I were to re-submit rather than leave the page, I'd end up with a dupe thread. SO... anyone who finds this sticky thread, and my post, after having similar issues, please take note of exactly what happened before this issue occurred. I think it must be something very specific. If we can narrow it down, maybe we can get some (*)(*)(*)(*) fixed, because this is indeed one of most annoying issues with this forum.
Just wanted to let everyone know, I've found a simple solution to this problem. Log out, delete all cookies/history/etc, close your browser, open it back up... then you shouldn't have any problems. One thing to consider though, is that if you have a static IP, you might have continued problems, as the issue might be linked to a members IP, and the server might recognize the same IP, and continue to redirect you to the last page you were able to view.
