3/10 of a percent? Woopee ding-dong. It's just guys dressing up as Santas and Elves, and women working as gift wrappers.

Okay... so... just how low should folks' lifestyle expectations go?

X-mas workers? It will be back up to what it was before the holidays. It should tell you something when people have to work 2-3 part time jobs to equal what they were making before. But, everything will get better soon with the Obama recovery. Which is now in its 5 year.

Kinda difficult to have a proper recovery when you have a congress that refuses to spend money on job creation programs. The fact we are recovering at all with all the austerity measures forced on us it nothing short of a miracle.

The House has sent several bills over to their counterparts in the Senate. Where are they?

When was the gov't ever able to create a job without taking away more jobs? And when was spending $1 trillion more than you take in ever defined as austerity?

“I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started. … And an enormous debt to boot!”

    - Henry Morgenthau Jr., Treasury Secretary to FDR, speaking in 1939

It was more important for the GOP to spend millions of dollars on Obamacare repeal bills that they knew had no chance of ever getting anywhere.

What ever happened to those "shovel ready jobs" that we spend all that money on?

Funny that when liberals spending doesn't cause the results they were expecting, they blame that other side and claim that if they only spent more.

Its like dealing with crack addicts, trying to kick the habit by taking one more hit.

These guys will get through 8 years of failed policy, even policy when they had complete control to pass any legislation they wanted, and still find a way to point the republicans and scream "their fault!:steamed:"

They just moved around some of the shells in the shell game. No evidence that jobs have been created!

The Democrats already spent 800 million which will balloon to 1.4 trillion on a program that was supposed to be about jobs, jobs, jobs. What it actually did was throw open the doors of the treasury to the SEIU and allowed them to loot our children's and grandchildren's futures. And what did the failed stimulus actually accomplish? Nothing. So now you advocate we double down on failure. Why should we trust any Democrat after they bungled up the first stimulus program so badly?

    If Barack Obama was truly serious about aiding the recovery, he can take these three steps;

    1 Repeal Obamacare.

2 Repeal the Dodd Frank Act

    3 Resign

Say what? Was it not Obama with his stimulus who created bunch of shovel ready jobs at about a million dollars per job created?

Forget the first two points; just "resign" would do nicely.

The stimulus ended the recession in a matter of months and created millions of jobs.

I agree. And replace it with universal healthcare to take healthcare responsibilities away from employers and into all tax payers. Share the burden and create jobs in the process.

I don't know if this would create jobs but it certainly would prevent future financial catastrophes.

Not sure how this would create jobs.

And notice the states that took in more money created more jobs. And no they didn't lose jobs once the stimulus money stopped coming in.

They helped bring us from 10% unemployment to 7%

Government hiring accounted for 41% of the gross job gains, over 300K more drones (not) working on the taxpayers dime (if only). My guess is that 275K are either fixing the ObombaCare site or pushing it in OFA type fashion.

60 months in a row of over 7% unemployment and don't for a minute believe that 7% today is the same as 7% 5 years ago. The accounting has been buggered.

Also, according to the famous Romer/Bernstein Grand Fraud stimulus projection, unemployment would be about 5% today. Thanks, Obama.

Equally plausible: The rise in popularity of Lady Gaga helped bring us from 10% unemployment to 7%.

    Unfalsifiable hypotheses abound.

We as voters put in place 2 years of complete Democrat control. During those 2 years they created what will be the most damaging thing to ever happen to the economy and that is the ACA. We the voters have also kept a Democrat majority in the Senate who has never brought a budget to vote and now has the nuclear option

We the voters elected a POTUS who believes in and is implementing income redistribution. We all understand that in order to give free stuff to some, that we must take away from those who earn it. Basically, we will lower the standard of living for the majority in order to raise the standard of living for the unproductive.

If the majority of voters did not want that then why did they re-elect Obama and also keep a Democrat majority in the Senate?

I believe that the people want redistribution of income and to lower the standard of living or they would have voted differently

Not really. It's a well known economic fact that stimulus through social programs and tax cuts and public works are a great way to fuel a jobs recovery. The reason we haven't had a quick recovery is we've been unwilling to invest in our workers. The economists know it. The politicians refuse to believe it.

And if you look at the data the fastest part of the recovery was the part where the stimulus was in effect.

They are all government jobs, both federal and state. Increasingly many make-work government jobs are going to young people, known as "Obama Youth (OY)." A great number of OY jobs consist of temporary seasonal employment.
