They will crumble before us, upsetting those on the left who want America to fail so they can make Trump look bad.

    25% of $ 34 billion in a $ 20 TRILLION economy.

The Drama Queens of the left are clueless...as always. The isn't even a DROP in the bucket of the US economy, but is an EFFECTIVE WARNING SHOT to the Chinese, as we will see.

And China is a 14 Trillion dollar a year economy with 20 trillion a year in purchasing power. It's literally the second largest economy in the world after the US.

They need to sell to us, much more than we need to sell the them, and the President, unlike the hysterical left, KNOWN THIS.

So what you are saying is the 2nd largest economy in the world benefited from having Tariffs and there was no doom and gloom? interesting!

Unless they find enough countries around the world sick of the US who are willing to make up the difference.

As I've said repeatedly, Tariffs within an agreement are there fore a specific reason. My country protects it's dairy industry because of the US's massive subsidization of yours which would flood my market and destroy our industry. Can't imagine Trump or a Trump supporter not understanding a countries desire for a certain level of protectionism.

Tariffs and protectionism is fine on the world scale if the countries trading are ok with it. The US has certain industries it protects and that's fine.

Not at all. I think it'll cost you outright, but I think it's the hilarious lack of honestly around it that is both sad and hilarious at the same time.

China Bad. I know, i'll slap steel/aluminum tariffs on them.

Ooops, we get teh vast majority of such from Canada. Hrm, how do I get around that? I know, I'll label Canada a national security risk, that won't sound insane at all......

How do you stop Canada from reexporting Chinese steel into the U.S. then? :)

well the threat of tariffs got us to get more money to the boarder guards to help stop this

    https://business.financialpost.com/...avoid-being-a-dumping-ground-amid-u-s-tariffs

I'm sure if we had a reasonable relationship (like we used to) it would be something we could, y'know, work on together. Like Allies are supposed to do?

Captain Bone Spur's principle opponent in the Trade War that he has instigated ...

"Trade wars are good, and easy to win! "
... will not be China, the EU, or Canada. It will be conservative forces in the US - the Chamber of Commerce, US manufacturers dependent on imported materials, right-wing economic theorists, champions of free trade in the private sector, midwestern agricultural interests, etc.

His promoting his industry of disassembling and exporting families is not a promising substitute for the mutually-beneficial engagement that has made the US the global leader via commerce.

Kim Jung Un will be boasting that, besides easily duping the fellow narcissist regarding North Korea's no longer being a nuclear threat, he will be braying that he won over Trump to the wisdom of a policy of despotic, hostile isolationism.

They won't. There are lot more third world manufactures than there are first world consumers.
You guys have a great Dairy protection system, doesn't produce over supply, doesn't cost your government a dime and dairy workers enjoy very nice wages, which, if you're familiar with the industry, you know they earn every dime of, that's real work.
Yup! And we are going to ptect a few more.

The Trump worshippers are obviously incapable of explaining their messiah, and Wall Street can't either. "It has certainly not been for a lack of trying,”

Trump's unstable, erratic behaviour in which he frequently contradicts himself (and then lashes out viciously and irrationally when the contradictions are pointed out) characterizes international trade policy as well as the petty, the personal, and the insignificant.

The best insight that one might provide to anyone baffled by his aberrant conduct is, "Remember! Whatever it is, for him, it is all about him."

    So says an economic illiterate.

The Dow Jones has not made a single gain since December 2017.

The US economy has grown from 3.2% to 2.2% since Trump was elected.

Trump's trade war will send the nation into recession before next spring.
