Well, here we are. Concerns over China providing ammunition and weapons to Russia are rising. Blinken warned warned his Chinese counterpart at a summit in Munich, the first exchange since the balloon fiasco. China insinuated that the West is not willing to come to a peace agreement, the same thing the Kremlin has said.

I sure hope things don't escalate further.

I don't know. I think China is playing the long game. They see themselves as destined to be the world's superpower. If Ukraine drags out and Russia ultimately succeeds it will strike a blow to the West and then the stage will be set to challenge American resolve over Taiwan. The reclaiming of Taiwan would signal the end of American hegemony and the beginning of a new era.

The West has unfortunately become infected with a terrible psychological disease while simultaneously flooding itself with third worlders. The greatest demographic replacement ever. We are at a turning point in world history.

There is no peace to discuss. Putler literally said no negotiations unless everyone agrees to give all occupied territories to Russia before negotiations even start. So give up everything before peace talks can even start. That is a none starter.

The CCP has had all of its propaganda supporting Putler from the beginning but Xi has refused to provide any military support as the west has made it clear if he does that then Communist China will get hit with the same sanctions as Russia. That would end communist China.

 

There is no way in hell China wants to stand alone vs the US. That nasty thing the Biden administration is doing (using Ukrainians as a sledgehammer to weaken their perceived primary foe) is what Xi is going to do. Tyrannical minds think alike I guess.

 

Agree that the longer this war goes .. the greater benefit to China .. as that is the war we should be fighting .. need to be fighting .. ukraine taking eye off the ball but also off environmental ball .. at critical juncture .. when time is short - not so much via CO2/warming . but in relation to Ocean Pollution .. that second horse in the race no one talks about due to older brother soaking up all the sunshine .. literally ..

Not sure Taiwan is the lynchpin though .. another nail in the coffen for sure .. but the lynch pin to US hegemony is the US Dollar's Sole position as world reserve currency - Sole medium of international exchange. The day you wake up in the morning and find that you can buy or sell internationally via a different mechanism .. where there is a "Valid" competitor to the USD .. is the day the History books will record as the defacto end of the US economic Empire.

The war .. especially the sanctions ... and previous unilateral iran sanctions by Trump (his biggest blunder) are hastening this competitor..

NK won't provide huge amounts of weapons....ICYMI there's approx. 30K US Marines a hundred yards south of the DMZ and USS George Washington, Carl Vinson, Abe Lincoln, or whichever ACC in the water nearby.

 

Putin has already declared he wants to conquer NATO territory so the only way to avoid WW3 is to make sure Putin's army dies in Ukraine so he is unable to ever try to continue on to his stated goals inside NATO.

Listen to Putin's speech he made on the day of the invasion. He specifically says Russia must be allowed to dominate all of eastern Europe and the former USSR and that the people who live there have no right to self determination. Peter Zeihan covered this extensively as well as the reasons Russian fascists/imperialist desire to do this.

Ukraine is not Putin's end goal. It is on the way to Putin's end goals of controlling the Baltic States, Finland, the Polish gap, and the bessarabian gap. Not to mention all of the former USSR.
