That may well be but why are these tanks going to Nicaragua? Any ideas?

There could be a political angle in so much as the US is supposed to have ignored Russia's interests in Ukraine and Syria so maybe Russia is showing that it can ignore US interests in making a decision to allow the sale of the tanks to Nicaragua. There is also the possibility of China constructing a canal in Nicaragua and that would affect US interests and has sparked protests in Nicaragua so may be related to the purchase of the tanks.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) chief economist Sergei Guriev disagrees with you.

    Quote.
If we look at it year to year, then the recession would continue in the second half of 2016, but when you look at quarter to quarter, it would end [in 2016]. The situation is complicated, but the next year will begin with a growth of 1.2 percent annually," Guriev said.

Yes, but look at what happens when they are given their democracy, often at the cost of US military lives - everything implodes into chaos? I'll bet if you asked any Iraqi or Afghan if they like things as they are, or preferred them before they were given democracy, they'd choose the latter. Regional differences; they don't think like us and they don't want to be like us, and for the greater good of those aspirant countries we should leave them alone.

In fact the Iraqi people celebrated their vote and welcomed democracy.

    https://www.google.ca/search?q=iraq...&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiqypzyk.

When Obama pulled the troops in December, 2011, the terrorists regrouped and went on to cause the deaths of tens of thousands of people, more genocide, group rapes, and a mass exodus away from the region. They also created more chaos in Libya. This will strongly and negatively effect Western Europe and would have caused equal harm to the US if Donald Trump were not elected for the Presidency.

I don't want to be contentious but I'll guess they did welcome it at first - and I for one thought they would. But now?

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm afraid we haven't heard the last of Europe's migrant problems.

You're not being contentious at all. We may disagree, that's all.

Right. The Iraqi people can hardly be happy because the withdrawal of troops in 2011 created a vacuum which the Islamists quickly filled. It's a modern tragedy which was completely avoidable.

As an example, in the entire year of 2011 there were 54 US casualties - from ALL causes. This was hardly a war but more of a peacekeeping operation. There are more deaths in a Chicago weekend then there was in that entire year in all of Iraq. That should put things in a proper perspective.

I wasn't specifically referring to US military deaths in Iraq, rather that of Iraqi civilians post-war, and which as we know is still on-going today. I don't really see how a US military presence could have prevented the suicide attacks in markets and other gathering places. The Islamists had been patiently waiting for Saddam's removal, and due to our flawed policy they didn't have to wait long. Big mistake, topping Saddam, but what's done is done.

You sound a bit paranoid; ever heard of "flexing your muscles"? That's all the US is doing right now.

I've been tracking this for along time. Ok you have to have a gods eye view over all the playing field here. With information fast as it is don't jump to quick. The overall objective is the

ability to obtain resources to maintain overall productions and currency flow. The thing is population, terrain, what's on that terrain. The U.S would not engage in war so easily.

The only way U.S will engage is lose of American life so the military would have the backing of the public. 9/11, think the operation Whitewood file also. File name might be wrong.

If anything Russia will try to make a super alliance with the U.S for control over China. The world is changing at the speed of light. The reason behind my thoughts are Russia and U.S

know China is becoming over populated and will need to expand resources. Hard to say. The U.S under Trump can present all kinds of mergers.

I know this is an older post but I wanted to point something out.

The US has been caught spying on almost every ally. The media is making Russia out to be this huge threat for spying on us. What the media says less about, is when WE get caught (Germany, Israel, and Brazil most recently).

Spying on allies or anyone in general is never a bad thing. The fact that Russia is doing it is causing mass paranoia in Europe and Asia. IMO, I see it as less of a threat, and more of a message that Russia wants to keep up with the big dogs (EU, USA, Israel...etc).

Look the NSA intercepts and records every single bit of electronic data occurring on, above or under Earth and it's oceans and that is a fact.

The thing with Russia is that Putin in an attempt to keep the Russian Public's eyes off of his theft of Russian Energy export Profits has been creating a false war scenario as he has been telling the Russian people that war is eminent with the United States.

This is not so and it has stopped ever since Trump was elected.

See, Trump fixed it. He started a new cold war at a minimum. He just set the world back on the path to nuclear annihilation. .

We and the Russians have fewer nukes now than at any time since the early 60s. Trump wants to start the highly profitable nuclear war business again. You don't suppose he has his finger in the pie, do you? [rhetorical question]

    Consider this...

Under the New START treaty signed with Russia in 2011, each nation was given a maximum of 1,550 nuclear weapons.

At this time, the US has around 1,300 nuclear weapons.

Russia has over 1,800 nuclear weapons, and is still growing.

We would have to build over 500 more to even equal their numbers, and over 250 more to even hit the cap we agreed to 5 years ago.

How about talking facts and figures, not just mindless propaganda?

I think we all know that this isn't really about Russia. Russia is just the scapegoat in all of this. The dems need to take focus off their little emails scandal.

Everybody is always spying on everybody. That is simply how things are.

At this time, I have yet to see any proof that it is the Russian Government behind the emails.

Yes, everybody keeps saying "Der Russians", but as so often this is misinformation by choosing the words to use. When you say "The Americans", that does not mean "The American Government".

First of all, you have to look at the tools of true "Spy Hacking". That is things like insider threats (Bradley Manning), as well as signal intercepts, and things like that.

The hacks of the DNC started primarily through a spearfishing attack.

How was the DNC hacked? Through the most basic of spearfishing attacks. In short, one of the highest members got an e-mail telling him his password needed to be changed, and a link to where to change it.

And to make it worse, the entire DNC IT staff was so incompetent that when that individual called them to verify it was a real email, they said that it was and to click on the link.

Sorry, but that makes me wanna smack their head with a crowbar.

Then you had the other high level member of the DNC, who's email password was "PASSWORD".

Sorry, this is not any kind of sophisticated hack at all, most high school script kiddies circa 1998 could have pulled off this hack. This was not the thing of foreign governments, it is the thing of amateurs.

Also, foreign governments typically do not go around releasing what has been found to the world. They keep it all hidden deep inside, so that they can continue to mine data for years and decades to come.

As an IT professional for over 30 years, I have yet to see anything in this hack to point to the Russian Government being behind it. In fact, the very techniques used are common to Russian hackers in their attempt to get information to perform credit fraud and identity theft. They simply found something more interesting than they thought, and decided to run with it.

Now, do I think the Russian Government might have been behind the release of information after it was gathered by these non-Government hackers? Yea, that is actually very likely. But do not confuse the hack itself with the information being released at a later time and date.

And do not forget, the hackers had been in place in the DNC computer system for several years. But the DNC in the 2012 election knew it had little chance of loosing, and a candidate with no competition for renomination.

If I had to make a timeline, based on what information is known now, it would probably go like this:

2010: Initial penetration (it is known at least 3 or 4 hackers penetrated the DNC).
2014: DNC aware of hacks, little done to eliminate them. Russian Intelligence starts to get part of the "take".
2016: With first contentious election in 8 years the hackers - Russian Intelligence see really juicy messages, RI instructs hackers to release some bits and pieces of messages intercepted.

Now that is with no real information released, but it is in keeping with how hacker crews operate and what information is available at this time.

But who do I blame most for this penetration? That is simple, the DNC. I can not believe how completely incompetent their IT staff apparently is. I have followed this for several months now, and like the Hillary Server issue, find that the security is almost completely lacking.

And yes, if this had been the RNC I would be just as scathing. I have seen graduates from a 14 week MCSE course with more knowledge of computer and network security than I have seen in the DNC and HRC.
