Before 1918 only men were allowed to vote in parliamentary elections. In the early 20th century there were two main groups active in the campaign for women's suffrage, a term used to describe the right to vote.

These two groups were the 'suffragists' who campaigned using peaceful methods such as lobbying, and the 'suffragettes' who were determined to win the right to vote for women by any means. Their militant campaigning sometimes included unlawful and violent acts which attracted much publicity.

Need for women to vote, give suggestions!

Salve, what do you want us to discuss here really? Your link isn't working, might be because I'm in Sweden, and suggestions to what?

I can give you some irrelevant food for thought that our Swedish writer August Strindberg gave me: You shouldn't get the priviledges of citizenship if you don't fullfill the obligations. Now, he didn't use those words as far as I know but I thought of it myself when reading a scenario of his with pretty much that point. The example he gave was that women should not be given the right to vote like men had because they didn't have have to be conscripted like the men also had. i.e the didn't fullfill the obligations, therefore they should get the priviledges. I think that fair actually. But as I've said, it's irrelevant now adays but good food for thought.
