What is a Weasel? In nature, it's a small mammal whose name has become famous and synonymous with its skill at evasion, dodging deterrents of all kinds, sneaking in where it doesn't belong, raiding- and doing damage. In politics, we have the equivalent. Demand the law is the law and must be applied vigorously to destroy your enemies- but invent ways to dodge it, distort it, abuse it, and use it differently when it doesn't serve your purpose. Sneak around the purpose of the law, ignore the principles and spirit of the law... Sneak in the back door. Political Weaselry. Authority for such malicious actions are often buried; hidden in legislation with positive sounding names, which become somewhat like a "drug mule", a reasonable sounding "purpose" with a hidden illicit cargo. New law going in effect in Illinois now... Is full of them. Including clear and obvious violations of the US Constitution..... Such as: The law bans dozens of specific brands or types of rifles and handguns, including .50-caliber guns, attachments and rapid-firing devices. No rifle will be allowed to accommodate more than 10 rounds, with a 15-round limit for handguns. Those who previously purchased such guns must register them with the Illinois State Police by Jan. 1. There are several such things in this law; hard to see where any of them benefit the citizens. This is but one of a large number of weasel legislative actions, both state and federal. Jan first, 320 news laws apply to citizens of Illinois, and very few of those citizens will be aware of the consequences hidden in them. Some are no doubt reasonable- but the weasels don't care if they are. Only fools trust weasels to be honorable; we can only trust them to be what they are- and it shouldn't take more than one experience to know it. The political weasels thrive when the Constitution is seen as obsolete and negotiable instead of the prime directive of law in this nation. Any honest man with a moral compass knows the difference. They seek to make all fundamental laws and values negotiable- and the people gullible. IF that is tolerated- you will no longer be a free citizen living in a free country.
