When all the data says the denier cult is crazy, ever-expanding conspiracy theories are the only option such cultists have left. Assuming that the cultists have ruled out honesty as an option, which does seem to be the case. That, of course, makes them look more crazy. They then declare people pointing out their crazy is further evidence of a conspiracy against them, and so the cycle of crazy expands.
