    Sorry, and it's not just Seattle pride (smilie), but Hendrix invented the guitar in the same way Stan Getz invented the Sax. Once other musicians heard how they played their instument, it was a game-changer. Everyone followed, and follows still.

    Fact, not opinion. :)

    You do know your music Archie. Agree with you about Hendrix and Getz, the rest followed after. I have about all of Stan Getz music, he was truly sensational on the sax.

    Mygod, and how so. While kicking it with his pal Joao Gilberto, whose wife sang him the "Girl from Ipanema," and then he asked her to sign it in English, leading to a Getz gem when they recorded it together (when Stan's breathy sax comes in, it's amazing), which lauched Astrud's career.

    Hey kindred spirit, that recording, no voice but Joao Gilberto's wife could have done it better. Such a delicious, warm and smooth song. I also have CDs by Joao Gilberto's daughter from his second marriage after Astrid, Bebel Gilberto, she is very good too.
