Well if there is a trial, they will be presumed innocent until their guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Sounds fair to me. I am sure they would hate to be treated as Ghadaffi's political enemies were treated for 40 years!
WHY ? Are the "rebels" demanding the return of Gaddafi's wife and children ??? Only the lowest of savages takes out retribution on the enemy's family. Just listen to the type of people we are dealing with here.. every bit as bad as Gaddafi !
Possibly they're looking to use them as leverage... ... to get him to surrender to the World Court... ... or maybe even to come back to Libya to be tried.
Here is the family, i dont see infants here, i think the claim to judge them is reasonable, ofc it will be a mob trial and... lets face it they just want to hang'em
The "children" are adults and they were part of the regime.. Khadafi hired many relatives for dirty jobs that oppressed the people.
What the TNC is really afraid of is that accepting members of Qadaffi's family will then create an excuse for accepting Qadaffi himself ('he wants to be with his family'). Having Qadaffi in residence in a country divided from Libya only by Tunisia would be deeply troubling to the new Libyan government and would no doubt encourage Qadaffi loyalists to cause trouble. It would also be deeply embarassing for the NATO countries active in Libya, because they are also supporters of the Algerian regime (because they defeated an Islamist insurgency). This is even though the Algerian government has spoken out against the Arab Spring and has not-so-quietly supported Qadaffi in his struggle.
The rebels have been rounding up the pathetically poor mercenaries hired by Gaddafi, tying their hands behind their back and shooting them. Do these people qualify as "oppressed people" as well?
UN urges restraint as the rebels wreak their revenge on 'loyalists' By Kim Sengupta in Tripoli Saturday, 27 August 2011 Reuters The Libyan rebels have been meting out brutal treatment to sub-Saharan Africans in Tripoli, suspecting that they are Gaddafi loyalists The killings were pitiless. They had taken place at a makeshift hospital, in a tent marked clearly with the symbols of the Islamic Crescent. Some of the dead were on stretchers, attached to intravenous drips. Some were on the back of an ambulance that had been shot at. A few were on the ground, seemingly attempting to crawl to safety when the bullets came. Around 30 men lay decomposing in the heat. Many of them had their hands tied behind their back, either with plastic handcuffs or ropes. One had a scarf stuffed into his mouth. Almost all of the victims were black men. Their bodies had been dumped near the scene of two of the fierce battles between rebel and regime forces in Tripoli." These people were fighting for justice...? But they give none. Sure give them all of Gadaffi's relatives, we can surly trust people like these to give them a fair trial, can't we ?
