This is outrageous! How in the world could we allow such insanity to happen! To me, it sounds like an attack on our military!! This is why we need to use more American Made parts for our military! There is a reason why our economy did well during both World Wars; it's mainly because we were supplying the other countries with military supplies and parts. Not only did that create many, many jobs, but it stimulated our economy greatly. Shouldn't we as a country be using American made parts for our own military? It just seems crazy to me how much we rely on other countries (mainly China) for imported goods. Something needs to drastically change about the way this country works soon, IMO.

Right now our military is having to deal with massive budget cuts. Maintenance is almost always one of the first things to suffer when that happens, and this is just a sign of that.

One of the things that gets the biggest prodding by Congress is the cost of replacement parts. And when the military has to cut corners, one of them is frequently the COTS area. Instead of going to the suppliers they have used for decades, they turn to cheaper suppliers. And is it a surprise that some of it is poor quality? Maintenance of our antiquated equipment runs higher and higher every year, and we have individuals inside and outside of the government screaming that we are spending to much money.

"Military Industrial Complex" type conspiracy theories also run rampant. Boeing is a major supplier, and of course they are a big part of the MIC. So to cut them off you go to a smaller company, which gets it's parts from China. It is not part of the MIC, but it is selling shoddy crap. Take your pick, you can't have it both ways.

    tbudwiser, et al,

    Too funny.

    (COMMENT)

How do you think the "Low Bidder" won the contract?

The US is a "service" provider. We are not really known for building anything. Hell, we cannot keep our own infrastructure up to snuff. Probably 50% or more of the computer you type on is made from parts manufactured overseas. That's why there are no jobs in America.

And it is hard for me to believe that Congress is just now finding this out. It is an indictment on the education of our legislators (Congress) and how out of touch they are.

    Most Respectfully,
    R

use dodgy suppliers, get dodgy parts. if it comes out that any of the suppliers donated to the DNC or are from Chicagoland, heads are gonna roll.
