What is a classy person? What makes them classy? Are they better than others? Are they just better at hiding their skeletons?

Intelligent being should never use words “classy person”. Leave it for sub intelligent dialogs.

OK... but are you saying its all an appearance or does classy extend beyond appearance? I personally think classy is for public consumption and the facade drops behind closed doors. If there is some classy person who is classy all the time, even when no one is looking... they would be a rarity indeed... almost a Jesus walking on water moment.

    Just my perspective though.

It's not necessarily about appearance, or wealth...superficialities ultimately. It can be of course, but it's not solely based on appearances.

    As an example...
Say a friend invites you over for dinner. They take the time to prepare a nice meal, they've cleaned their house or apartment and invested energy into making sure you have a pleasant experience.

A "classy" action, would be to send a thank you note.
"Had a wonderful time, thank you for dinner."

Standard stuff...you don't have to write a novel.

Not an e-mail, not a text...you go buy a $1.50 card or stationary and hand write a simple thank you message, you buy a stamp..and you mail it. You recognize the effort your friend made, by making an effort to thank them.

That's class....and very few people do things like that.

It's not necessarily about appearance and wealth...it is decorum and etiquette. How one conducts themselves in public.

    My opinion of course.

Class, as I believe is asked in the poll, is someone who treats their fellow man (and woman) with respect, no matter who the opposition may be. I, myself, am not the definition of class. And I admit it.

I agree with Herkdriver and HogWash.

Classiness knows no social strata or ranking, and classiness isn't a matter of dressing up and putting on attractive affectations.

    Doing the right thing, operating with grace and dignity, and giving more than you take;
    that's classy.

Class is someone who does the right thing when it is easier to do the wrong thing.

Class is someone who puts another person's feeling above their own.

Class is knowing when to talk and when to be silent.

    Class is respecting others.

    Class is having self respect.

Why class when you can have duende.....
There was a Boston Globe columnist named George Frazier who used to write about duende, he never exactly said what it was, but he would say who had it, and who didn't.
Joe Dimaggio had it huge, Ted Williams had it, Stan Musial did not.
Marilyn Monroe had it, Jayne Mansfield didn't.
Frank Sinatra dripped Duende, not so much Tony Bennett.
Here's a tribute column from the Baltimore Sun columnist Dan Rodricks that gives you a taste, I couldn't find one of Fraziers columns, he died in 1974..
