People want cheap food because its all they can afford, but they also want food that actually comes from their own country. I wouldn't mind paying more, I'd go to the local market and buy food there because it comes from their own backyard.

Thats going to get worse once your carbon fraud comes in.

You are the exception not the rule, most folk want it cheap as cheap AND from aust. We ( my family ) are lucky, we manage to be around 70% self-sufficient with our food. Infact i just got 10 new lambs this week to fatten up for the freezer.

I keep being tempted to unblock a certain person, especially after reading Gwens thread (which was closed by a yank yet its about Aussie problems).

The thought enters my mind for a second or two but then I remember my asking my father what was under that bid cement block out the back of our rural property.

Dad told me it was the septic system, he said if I want to have a look he would lift the cover, but he said, I can tell you now what you will see.

Dad opened the cover .... he was right

What has happened to our country ... are we going mad....?
    (just to keep on thread)

Lol, and yet this poster efjay claims to have me on his ignore list. By his own admission he is ignorant, therefore anyone calling efjay ignorant cannot be in violation of forum rules.

The strange thing, well strange to me, is that they think you speak for most Australians, yet you they are the most blocked by Australians.

I have just come back form a small rural town, the town I grew up in. I was sitting around with a bunch of old fellows, average age around 80, Dad is 95 and jokes, "I haven't many friends left my age, I have to hang around with all the young uns.

Well discussing all these things there is something I do every time I go home, these old fellows have been around a long time, they have been through a world war, a depression and lived a life that most of us could not handle.

Now they all were absolutely amazed at some of the stories I told and in particular some of the posts I showed them.

My father was really disturbed, he was worried for my partner and her family. Ever since he witnessed first hand the filthy racism when we (Dad, myself and my partner) were driving to the local cemetery.

A police officer was going the other way, and he immediately swung around and followed us for about 5kms. Once we were out of the residential area and on a more deserted piece of road he pulled us over. I got out of the car, and asked what was wrong, he said he thought I was someone else from around town by the car. My father, who I am positive was not seen by the police officer as Dad was in the back seat, pricked up his ears, I kind of shhhd him a second as the police officer continued. I am more interested in your friend, do you know what pleasure it would give me to get her back to the station? He continued.

Dad had had enough, he jumped out and said to him, "No I don't, mind telling me exactly what kind of pleasure you would get out of it. Well this guy back tracked so quickly, my Dad has lived in that town for 80 years.

This story was also related to the "Old boys" and I am pleased to say, they were all as disgusted as I was, one saying that in today's day and age he thought we had grown.. He said "Haven't we learnt anything". I said well most have, but some still live in the last century.

Some people never learn, they are blinded by their own ignorance. They all nodded in agreement.

I love going home, every two weeks I travel up for 5 days, one of these days I have lunch with the Old Fellows, a usual lunch is around 95 to 100 of them. We all sit down in the seniors hall for lunch and a chat.

With the average age of 85, the "Seniors Lunch" has usually around 1000 years of experience sitting in one room, I feel so privileged to sit among them, perhaps more of us should.

My greatest admiration for my black brothers and sisters is the way they have looked towards their elders for leadership, unfortunately today that is not so much the case, the elders too are so screwed from the treatment they get that they have even lost that. I see too that we have lost the council of our elders, such a pity, so much knowledge crushed by ignorance. Ignorance will always try to crush reason, ignorance doe not understand reason.

I must apologise to Ian, my last post was a bit screwed up, it was not intended for you my friend, I hope you figured that out but I wanted to clear it up for every one else. It was intended to be a comment on your post.

I also screwed the first line up so I am reposting the entire thing corrected, too much travelling over the past few days and not near enough sleep.
