What is the Difference Between Toilet Paper and Facial Tissue?

    https://www.supplytime.com/Blogs/Bl...etween-Toilet-Paper-and-Facial-Tissue_76.aspx

With the shortage of toilet paper, I've been stocking up on facial tissue as well but this article says it can mess up my plumbing. It doesn't dissolve as well as TP.

I live on a septic system but sounds like this can be just as bad for me.

I might buy a diaper genie per bathroom and not flush 'em.

Another guy says have a stack of wash clothes. Launder them as appropriate.

Are you facing this shortage? How do you intend to handle it?

Regular Kleenex is especially hard on your septic system. We have a septic and we are careful about the type of toilet paper we get.
We aren't particularly worried about toilet paper at this time.

I've had two rental properties that were on septic tanks. DO NOT resort to flushing facial tissue. Trust me.

I just found tp online so it is out there, and found the house brand in stock at a BJ's warehouse store in Fort Liquordale. If you were to find it at a BJ's location near you, you can buy in store with a non-member premium.

So far I'm good but stores are wiped out around here. I have some generic stuff coming from Amazon much later. Scary thing is my boy starts moving out of the house tomorrow! (He gets keys and I think they let him start moving into his own apartment for start date of 4/1). Tried to talk him out of it for now but he's so excited. So many of his friends have gotten their own place. Well, if is a mistake, he's young. He'll bounce back. ITMT: we'll likely have to share some of our supply with him.

Thank you both VERY much for keeping me from making a horrible mistake. If it comes to it, I'll get a couple of diaper genies per bathroom so we don't have to flush.

I'm over here wondering why people are stocking up on toilet paper when there's wet wipes?! Wet wipes are far better than toilet paper as far their intended purpose goes, and I'm not having any trouble finding them.

Good question. Its the same stuff. Do you know how to tell the difference between an oral thermometer and a rectal thermometer? The taste!

    LOL
The guys did stop me from making a horrible mistake: flushing facial tissues will break your septic system. At worst, I'll get a diaper genie for them. upload_2020-3-23_18-53-18.png

I see what you did there.

What does the USS Enterprise have in common with a roll of toilet paper?

Both can be seen around Uranus wiping out Clingons.

What is the Difference Between Toilet Paper and Facial Tissue?

The main difference is the 2 areas in which they are applied, and for a few members in this forum those areas are identical.

I know they are warning people not to flush Clorox wipes and other treated sanitary wipes down their toilets. They evidently clog the plumbing and septic systems.

Installing a bidet in an existing structure is extremely expensive. Not so much the water supply but the waste line. Never forget that a plumber’s motto is “**** runs downhill”.

I'm advised that facial tissue is harder to break down than toilet paper and will also mess up my plumbing. So, at worst, if I run out, I'll still use the facial tissue that way but have a diaper genie in the bathroom. upload_2020-3-24_3-35-40.png

Facial tissue has moisture resistant properties. TP is made to break down quickly.
