In Greek, God is translated as "the Theos," in Latin "the Deus," and in Aramaic "the Allah." These are all titles. However, in English, God is most often translated as just "God." God did this, or God did that; which is more like a proper noun than it is a title. If then "God" really should be translated as a title, as it is in Greek, Latin, and Aramaic, what would that title be? My hint would be; find the root of the noun, and you will have found its title.
Yeah, and that's what you're doing, damning yourself. Oh well! I'm the father of lies that's what I be, who laughs at people's misery. To watch them as they lie and steal. The fools, they think they're being real.. But fools they were and fools they'll be for they have eyes but cannot see, and think that playing wicked games will bring them power, wealth and fame. But what they want will not be so. Instead of heights they've fallen low. And covered up with filth and muck. Tough luck I know, but that's how it goes! - Jeannette
Actually God's name is the Creator. Jesus is His Word, and the Holy Spirit is the Love emanating from God that unites and binds the world.
And kills all things on earth but ark creatures. And. Isaiah 45:7 “I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.”
You should be thanking me for being the catalyst that brings out your creative side that inspires you to write poetry. Do you know how the Bible says Gods are created? Wisdom 14:15-20 Common English Bible (CEB) "15 Imagine a father overcome with grief at the untimely death of his child. In his grief, he makes an image of the child. The person who was once a corpse he now honors as a god. He passes it on to those under his authority, along with certain mysteries and special ceremonies. 16 As time goes by, his godless custom becomes tradition. Eventually, his custom becomes law, and rulers order the people to worship these carved images. 17 These rulers, moreover, lived far away from most of their subjects. So because the people couldn’t pay their respects in person, they imagined what the ruler looked like and made an image of their honored leader. By their diligent efforts, they were thus still able to shower the king with their flattery. 18 But the artist’s desire to be recognized for his work also incited the fools to an ever greater intensity of worship. 19 Perhaps out of a desire to please the person in power, the artist makes the most of his artistic skill to fashion an even more beautiful and perfect image.20 The masses, charmed by the object’s workmanship, now begin to consider the object worthy of their worship, where not long before they had only honored the person as a human being." That sure sounds like how the Jesus character became a God.
Actually, it's kind of funny you said that. The former president is the only person I know of who has a title to his name; "The Donald." However, is "The Donald," the title for God? I suspect not.
How can God create evil when evil is a negation of Creation and therefore the antithesis of it? God is expressing Himself in the OT in the only way that the spiritually immature Hebrews could understand at the time. They had just grown out of paganism, so they couldn't fully comprehend God and what He consisted of. Their spiritual growth eventually expanded into the Greek world, which gave access to a more flexible language, one that could better express the new revelations of God that would come in the Person of Jesus Christ. This is why we have an Old Testament and a New Testament - Yet contrary to what many think, He is the same God.
The Donald is what his first wife called him because of his high energy and constant activity. I read he only sleeps about 4 hours a night. His wife was from Czechoslovakia, so I guess it's kind of a foreign thing because my mother referred to my father in a similar fashion. He was also high energy and very active.
It sounds like a lot of projection to me, because it's your own interpretation of that which you do not know, and cannot understand. Here's some more of my creativity: Enjoy! Projection, projection! What should we do! For how can we know, if your words are true. Or if we're just seeing ourselves in you - Jeannette
We're a Germanic language, so God comes from Gott in German. Is it related to the word; 'good', since people turned to 'gods' in time of distress? Just guessing!
I don't really know. People often wonder why Genesis 1:1 says, "In the beginning, Elohim (gods) created the heavens and earth, but the verb 'created,' is written in the singular. I think it's because Elohim is really a singular body, "the masterhood," which is made up of multiple entities; as you suggest, the creator, the spirit, and the word, if not more. So perhaps Genesis 1:1 really says, "In the beginning, the masterhood created that of the heavens and earth." Beyond "the masterhood," you also have "the master" himself, (god I suppose), a female "masterita," the Greek goddess of Acts 19, and the "masterful" powers of 2nd Peter chapter one.
Don't ask me, I didn't contribute to biblical passages. You are claiming that god in the bible changed between OT and NT. I was taught god never changes.
Well, "god" is also a title. Duh! Like "a doctor" or "an architect". The real name of GOD is sacred and unknown for the great majority of beings in the Universe that the same "Good Ol' Dad" created. Duh!
So, the Hebrews concocted their religious beliefs but were dumb to properly express them. The Greeks, being much smarter, took the Hebrew beliefs and refined them and then gave them back to the Hebrews. Those Greeks sure were nice fellows, weren't they? The question is: Do you believe the Hebrew religious beliefs or do you believe what the Greeks said the Hebrew religious belief were?
Titles are written in the emphatic form, names are written in the absolute form. A title: The principal told Henry to leave the room. A name: Henry told the principal to leave the room. Congratulations, you just flunked your first grammar test. You have any other garbage you want me to correct you on?
God Zeus God Ares God Hades Godess Athena Godess Hera God Ra God Vishnu God Krishna What does that tell us? It's a title, a job, an occupation, if you will. Well, concidering I'm not a native English speaker, it's not a big deal.
It tells us you're trying to turn Gods and Godesses into adjectives. Sort of like you calling me Awesome pol meister, and me calling you Obstinate Canell.
