My wife is very good at determining the strengths and weaknesses and potential abilities of pups at a young age. She had two picked out when the pups were about 6 weeks old. One will take over guarding a flock of chickens/guineas and some geese and ducks an old dog is guarding now. The other one will stay with the goats and cows it’s being raised with.

We are down to six, so four still available if you want one!

Don't tempt me... They are amazing dogs and so centered on their jobs.

The one looking back is he/she one of the puppies your wife picked. He/she looks like they want to see everything happening. My husband just said he will take him...LOL. If we didn't have two dogs it would be a go.
The one with the curled up tail is a cutie.

Roscoe who was our first border collie tended the chickens. He would l watch them when they were out of the pen. If my husband or I drove to the yard on the Gator Roscoe would crawl under the gator to watch the chickens. He loved to be under something. Cody does to but not as much as Roscoe. Border collies have a way of surprising and amazing you all the time. Their intelligence is super keen. upload_2023-4-27_8-0-28.jpeg

Just one more would be fine! Three isn’t a lot. :)

I’m not sure which ones are the keepers. LOL. I don’t spend much time with them to tell them apart. Just check on them when I’m out getting milk cows in to milk.

It rained a bit this evening. Can you tell which one napped in the hut while it rained?

The expression on the puppy's face by the hut is priceless.

My little girl dog, my avatar, was diagnosed with diabetes a week ago. So she's on a strict diet twice a day and we have to give her two daily insulin shots. She's 10 soon and apparently her diabetes gives her a life expectancy of another 3 to 4 years.

Me: a dog (male Pitbull Terrier) and an indeterminate number of cats. I'm not their owner but they often come to my house because they know they'll get food there.

Btw, many people fear my "Pitty" (that's his name) because he's very muscular and pitbulls generally have a bad reputation here. :(
Pitty would drive away any burglar by running up to him - because he wants to be petted. :)

I've got two pitties and a Chinese Crested. The little dog rules the roost. The biggest pittie girl won't even sit on a bed with the little dog unless given permission first. And the big girl is BY FAR the friendliest dog we've ever had. She freaks out when we have people over and we make her wait before introductions. She got me out of a ticket once when she accidentally stepped on the window-down button after I was pulled over and decided to introduce herself to the cop. He wasn't too pleased at first, but he came around.

Thanks. Lots of memories. She lived to be 18 despite of being a Husky in Florida heat. At one point we understood that she was too stubborn to be trained and we just let her be.

I've seen that as a pattern with Huskies before. They tend to be escape artists and hard-headed asshats. It reminds me of when my beagle passed away and a friend said, "She was a good girl." I just cracked a smile and said, "Like hell she was." That was part of the appeal.
