It seems before too long everyone will be a criminal just because they know someone who knows knows a bikie.

Tradespeople are going to lose their jobs just for knowing bikies it seems.

I wonder when he's pass a bill disbanding the QEC so he can redefine electoral boundaries in QLD elections?

    Panzer,
where would you draw the line?
Bikies do a lot wrong, and I don't mean the ones riding their Hondas or Beemers.
I mean those ones, who don't wear a helmet, or those ones which bikes don't come with a muffler/silencer...
And yes I mean those ones who are dealing with drugs, guns, etc.
Yeah I think you get the picture.
    Something needs to be done....

    No, certainly not.
But doing nothing won't help either...
    Difficult subject, I agree.
In which way would you tackle the problem?

Not how they're doing it. Making it illegal to ride bikes, making it illegal to have once known a bikie, making people lose their jobs, etc isn't the way to do it. The Government has let their vast majority go to their heads.

    I don't know. That doesn't mean the government's way is suddenly good. It's (*)(*)(*)(*). It's stupid. It's a violation of our rights.

The real problem is WHERE DO YOU DRAW THE LINE??? I agree with your sentiment to a point that it is a violation of anybody’s rights to be labelled a criminal by a public servant. BUT something does need doing.

There are a lot of Australian laws that are introduced that are never policed that could very well address the issues this Newman government is attempting to act upon. Why they are not policed??? I don't know, it simply seems to me, it is too hard and sentences seem too trivial...

However, expansions to these laws have been called for already. Again, how far do they intend to go??? Where will it end??? When people with a political different opinion of those in government are gaoled??? Sorry to say this Newman government NEEDS to be curbed in this area. Australia should be looking to less government intervention NOT more but the oblivious seem to want to continue.

I don't like the idea that they can put an extra 15 years onto any sentence just because the person belongs to a bikie gang or club. That seems rather arbitrary and an unjust punishment.

Its not because they belong to a 'bikie gang or club', lets put it in real terms, its because they belong to an organised criminal enterprise.... organised crime. The list of clubs the laws' impact is developed through intelligence on criminal activity by those clubs..... so its as simple as that.

That is why they are getting hit hard with all these mandatory sentences etc, organized crime is very serious and has the potential to escalate quickly. Especially when they start shooting gun's in public and muscling around in public like sons of anarchy.

If your in one of those OCMG's and dont do crime then get out ASAP. If you do do crime then please stay so you can get arrested ;)

Most ppl know Union's are crooks too so its no wonder they are crying foul where no foul exists. Its always the bullies who cry the loudest.

As Newman said, they are intended to dismantle the criminal organisations only. They are only stupid if they fall outside of it, or do not work... and they are already working. I guess its just up to Police to use intelligence better when enforcing the new laws so they remain targetted.
