On Nicola Sturgeon's twitter they seem to believe this is a trap. When 22 May comes there is no other possibility of getting any further extension so they think she might just say again then, it is my deal or no deal https://twitter.com/NicolaSturgeon
Michael Gove seems to be saying on the BBC that this is to let Parliament get their act together and vote for May's deal so that we do not spend one minute longer in the EU than we need to. He does not seem to be open to any thing other than her deal. He says they are preparing for no deal and they did say earlier that was what they were working on today. I suspect it is just what Hilary Benn suspected. Just an intention to stick to May's deal and do what May did openly last time to blame everyone else but them for not agreeing to her deal and leave on No Deal - and hence them getting what they wanted all the time anyway.
Apparently 14 of them voted not to ask for a further extension - that would be to leave on No Deal I think and 10 voted for an extension. She seems to have gone midway - a tiny extension https://twitter.com/SamCoatesTimes/status/1113136822937440256
Only ... so slow have the people who have to decide on the extension of the EU ... the EU Council ... no more patience with the British! More and more voices are spreading, which want to give the British an "Accept or Die" answer: A) Make a second referendum B) if not, you will leave on April 12 with a no deal! The last deadline that is really possible is an exit on 22.05.2019 ... no matter how the exit happens! All that goes beyond Extension means remaining in the EU for a minimum of 1 year, including participation in the EU Parliament election! It is funny that Brexit is currently creating new jobs in the EU. Thus 900 new jobs are created in the port of Rotterdam / Netherlands, because the No Deal then requires the full customs procedure with imported goods from the UK = more staff is necessary. The situation is similar everywhere else in the EU ...
