Ainu people were the first people live in Japan.

Then where did Japanese come from, I heard they were from malay, anyway I am not sure.
DNA research can solve this question.

I read that migrations from Korea and southeast Asia mixed with the Ainu, plus a second smaller influx of Koreans during some early Japanese/Korean wars when the Korean allies who lost a war moved to western Japan.

The Jomon people, from whom the Japanese population descended, originally came from Siberia around 20,000 year ago. The genetic structure of the Jomon exhibited some similarities with indigenous modern Siberian populations inhabiting the lower Amur River, particularly the Ulchi and Udegey people (Adachi et al., 2011), and some Jomon artefacts were also discovered along the Amur River.

The Ulch (Russian: ульчи, obsolete ольчи; self designation: нани, nani) are an indigenous people of the Russian Far East who speak a Tungusic language, Ulch. Over 90% of Ulchis live in Ulchsky District of Khabarovsk Krai, Russia. According to the 2002 Census, there were 2,913 Ulchs living in Russia — down from 3,173 recorded in the 1989 Census, but up from 2,494 recorded in the 1979 Census, and 2,410 recorded in the 1970 Census. According to the 2010 Census there were 2,765 Ulchs in Russia.

There are two groups of Japanese ancestors. One is the Jomon (Ainu) from Siberia and another is the Yayoi who arrived around 2,000 years ago from the Korean Peninsula. A recent genetic study showed that the modern Japanese population is a mixture of the Jomon (Ainu) and the Yayoi and around 23-40% of mainland Japanese harbour Jomon (Ainu) ancestry, while 60-77% of them descended from the Yayoi settlers who were mainly ethnic Koreans (He 2012).

The original genetic donor to Yayoi migration is still controversial, both Korean and Chinese (northern or southern Han) were potential candidates5,18. Since genetic difference exists between northern and southern Han Chinese populations19, we examined the possible contribution of both northern Han Chinese (NH, combining data of CHB in HapMap project and NHan in HGDP) and southern Han Chinese (SH, combining data of CN-SH in PanAsia SNP project and SHan in HGDP) respectively in this study. We also examined the contribution of northern East Asian population by combining data of NH and Korean (NHK, including NH and Korean population named KR-KR in PanAsia SNP project) since previous genetic studies differed on whether Koreans were the only immigrants in period of later Jomon and early Yayoi5. Therefore totally three potential genetic sources (NH, SH and NHK) were evaluated respectively as continental genetic donor.

Figure 2: Estimated contributions of Jomon in different genetic scenarios.

The estimated contribution of Jomon to modern Hondo Japanese ranges from 0.231 to 0.395 for different donors (Figure 2). The contribution of Jomon (0.231) is the lowest, when NHK (combination of Northern Han and Korean) was taken as the donor, with 95% confidential interval (C.I.) 0.215–0.266. When NH and SH were taken as donors, estimated contributions were 0.395 (C.I. 0.379–0.421) and 0.376 (C.I. 0.344–0.387), respectively. In contrast, Jomon's contribution in modern Ryukyuans is much greater than that in modern Hondo Japanese, regardless the choice of donors. The estimated contribution are 0.543 (95% C.I. 0.512–0.567), 0.605 (95% C.I. 0.605–0.648 ) and 0.623 (95% C.I. 0.623–0.671), for NHK, NH, and SH, respectively (Figure 2).

    In the end game,

    I'm turning Japanese
    I think I'm turning Japanese
    I really think so
    Turning Japanese
    I think I'm turning Japanese
    I really think so
    I'm turning Japanese
    I think I'm turning Japanese
    I really think so
    Turning Japanese
    I think I'm turning Japanese
    I really think so

    But I digress:

My understanding that the first Japanese were taller than today's Japanese and had Caucasian features including Caucasian skin tone and still can be found in northern Japan. In layman terms the first Japanese were more white than Asian. May explain why the Japanese are warriors.

My source is now dead. But he was known as Mister Asia and after being a POW in Japan during WW ll, after the war he took a Japanese bride and studied the Japanese culture and history and became America's expert on Japan for the U.S. military during the 50's and 60's.

Sounds fare, the Japanese own most of downtown L.A.

I don't know if that's still true today but it was true back in the 1980's.

You don't want to (*)(*)(*)(*) with the Japanese. All you have to do is read about the war in the Pacific during WW ll.

There are millions of U.S. Marines, soldiers and sailors who would disagree with you that the Japanese was over rated.

The reason there was a million dead Japanese soldiers because they wouldn't surrender on the battlefield.

The Japanese soldier was well trained, well disciplined and were fanatics.

Tarawa, defended by 4,419 Japanese troops and construction troops. Only 17 Japanese soldiers survived the battle.

Iwo Jima, defended by 21,060 Japanese troops. 216 survived and taken prisoner.

The war in the Pacific was bloodier than on the Eastern front in Europe.

Many called the war against Japan a race war.

By November of 1942 the unofficial order to U.S. Marines, you don't take prisoners during the heat of battle. The Japanese had the same policy.
If a Japanese soldier was needed to be captured to gather intelligence, the Marines had special units that went out to capture a Japanese soldier.
Prisoners would only be taken during the mopping up phase of the battle after the battle had already been won.

Why do you think we nuked Japan ? Because they refused to surrender.

If true, that would seem to justify the belief that when the Japanese invaded Manchuria they were just taking back the territory that had originally been theirs long ago.

I have read there might have also been a substantial contribution to the gene pool from the area that is now coastal Southern China.

The lower Amur River is much closer to Sakhalin than to Manchuria. The Manchu people are more Chinese than the Ulch people inhabiting along the lower Amur River, who are genetically related to the Ainu as well as other native Siberian tribes. There was no legitimate reason to colonise Manchuria, which was actually a fascist plot to seize Manchuria by force without being sanctioned by the government.

    The Ulch (Russian: ульчи)

The figures I cited in my previous posts show that the Japanese are up to 39% Jomon (Ainu) and the Ulch girls in the photo do look Japanese.
