You can just scan the thread titles in the politics forum and see that we are awash in bad or at least depressing news. And we aren't even at war!

What the heck is going on, and is there any refuge from it?

I'm trying to watch the Catholic TV channel more, and it helps a bit. Jesus himself said "let tomorrow take care of tomorrow," and I'd like to follow his advice.

Where do you go when you seek solace from Ukraine, the Biden laptop, climate change, the rail strike, the angry news media, inflation, and Kanye's latest outburst?

I just look around me at the things that are real and tangible and relevant to me personally. Media is trying to distract you from things that really matter in your life. Don’t let them.

Focusing on these things makes me feel better about the world.

Yes! For two years now there's a rancher located between Eldorado and Sonora, Texas who proudly flies a huge banner easily viewed from US Highway 277 that says "**** BIDEN!" And there's literally dozens of signs and banners all over the Texas Hill Country in Kerr, Gillespie, Kimble, and other counties that express the same sentiment in slightly different wording....

I grew up in that part of Texas, and for my part I'll say there are no finer people anywhere on Earth! I love living in Colorado, but it has gotten to be so 'blue' in the past ten years that I find myself wishing to go back where people have some decency and common sense.

I am from Texas and living temporarily in Los Angeles. Am I homesick? Yes, I am.

I can't imagine anyone leaving Texas. Colorado is a beautiful state and it is fun to visit but nothing like Texas. Texas has it all,,the mountains, the seashore, the desert, the springs, the rivers, the bluebonnets, and the canyons. Maybe that is the place to go for refuge.
