Climate change activists chained themselves to the gates of the White House on Wednesday in protest of proposed oil pipelines.

Those involved are against plans to build the Line 3 pipeline, which would export hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil from Alberta in Canada through Minnesota to Wisconsin, while crossing Indigenous land, as well as the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP), a natural gas pipeline from southern Virginia to northwestern West Virginia.

Protesters are also demanding climate infrastructure deals.

Some chained themselves to the 15th & Penn NW vehicle entrance, while others gathered in that area displaying signs and banners. One read: "No stolen oil from stolen land."

I'm not sure how big this story should be, but I'm a little surprised I haven't heard it over the airwaves. Newsweek seems to be reporting this exclusively.

I expected the far left to be a problem for Biden. My only real disappointment with Biden so far is his capitulation to the progressives, and I think it's going to backfire.

I certainly support everyone's 1st Amendment rights, but chaining yourself to White House gates is counterproductive. We can't fight one extreme with the other. The result is nothing gets done.

We need to meet in the middle, which it appears Biden and Republicans have accomplished. Biden almost blew it with his "my way or the highway" statement, directed entirely at the far left. Now the lefties are chaining themselves to White House gates, in opposition to a Biden policy.

If Biden has to fight a two-front war, we're not going to get anything done.

Natural Gas pipelines are so important that Germany, Australia, Canada, and France are all moving forward with natural gas pipelines. It's a cleaner alternative to oil, and freight ships are being built and retrofitted to carry and consume natural gas that will be delivered via pipeline to the coast. Thus, lowering fuel and transportation costs, as well as attracting freighters that are financially incentivized to visit ports that can maximize their profits.

The other issue with these woke dolts is that they are protesting and legally contesting mines and excavation meant to find and supply essential materials for solar panels made in the United States. I think UAMY is currently tied up in litigation over their Michigan site. They need to mine graphite so buyers can produce cheaper, more efficient panels that can compete in the marketplace. Big case in the financial arena. However, the chip shortage gets a lot more attention cause I want my playstation.

The solar and EV industries were actually doing good through the end of 2020. They can still compete, but there aren't many sources for raw material in the United States. The supply chain issues are crippling our economy.

They were non-violent. Reminiscent of tree huggers.

So the top story on all the China-funded news outlets is the nonsensical Trump indictment, because their ratings suck without Trump, and the current administration keeps walking into disasters and woke errors. Top story on CNN is Trump even though you had protestors at the White House, Transracial white guy that underwent surgery to 'become' Asian, NYC energy blackout, and Jesses Jackson helping notorious rapist Bill Cosby get out of Prison. They could also talk about real issues, but I doubt they can identify one at this point.

Energy is a major issue. All countries are addressing it by building infrastructure for the transmission of materials and fuels needed to avoid supply-chain issues. These Dodocrats aren't helping anyone by protesting a pipeline that will bring a more efficient, less polluting source of energy to supplement other sources.

Also, glad to see Canada's still a willing partner after the Keystone debacle. That's proof that the US-Canadian relationship is still strong.

Canada is doing it for Canada. It was a great move for Trudeau and every other Liberal around the world cause they realized the importance of access to resources, and cost-cutting transportation vehicles. Blocking Keystone was probably the worst move in the early days of the Administration. Almost as bad as Syria. He lost Manchin. And he lost Sinema (I don't know if that's specifically due to Keystone). They've done polls of Arizona and WV in which majorities put denial of Biden's agenda over any other issue. In WV, voters say they won't vote for Manchin if he works with Biden. You have other congressmen and women who are under the same pressure.

Democrats think Biden is popular cause a bunch of a bunch of biased approval polls that were conducted by Democrat organization. I think Harris has his approval at 60%. Laughable.

I mean, I don't mind win-win deals where our Canadian friends prosper. The same is true of Mexico. All I wish is for a peaceful coexistence in the North American sphere. So if the Canadians are doing this due to their interests, that's awesome. I agree that blocking Keystone was one of the worst moves, simply because blocking the pipeline had no long term strategic value to the US and as a political football, independents and conservatives were in favor of the pipeline.

As far as the natives are concerned? Relocating their homes shouldn't be too much of a problem and any and all accommodations to them. In some ways, we can even seek financial compensation where it's possible for the natives. So that should alleviate even that. The road to energy independence lies in collaboration with our neighboring countries.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Personally, my highest hope for Biden is that he does nothing at all.

You wanna explain to me how thats not an attempted hostage taking?

If Jan 6 was an insurrection, this was a hostage situation.
