In some ways, the Israeli-Hamas war is the perfect opportunity for the administration to dump one nagging girlfriend for a new sun-kissed hot chick.

White House warns Israel crisis is stretching its ability to support Ukraine: ‘Running out of runway’

The White House said it was “running out of runway” on supporting both Ukraine and Israel as US Republican lawmakers warned they would protest any funding request for military aid from the Biden administration for the two crisis-hit nations.

“I think in the immediate term, right now, we can continue to support – with the authorities in the appropriations we have – Israel and Ukraine. But, you know, we’re ... certainly running out of runway,” said John Kirby, a spokesperson for the National Security Council.

Mr Kirby said the US administration had the means to support both Israel and Ukraine in the near term. “But you don’t want to be trying to bake in long-term support when you’re at the end of the rope,” he said on Wednesday.

And on the Ukraine funding, we’re coming near to the end of the rope. I mean, today we announced $200mn, and we’ll keep that aid going as long as we can, but it’s not going to be indefinite,” he said, adding that the US is moving with “a sense of alacrity”.

So after promising to love Ukraine long-time, it looks like she had not performed to expectations and this is the perfect time to dump her.

Why would they need to support a giant vs a mouse to such an extent that they cannot keep supporting a mouse vs a giant?

Israel does not need our help to turn Hamas into toast.

That said, Biden and the rest of the West have had almost 2 years to ramp up military funding and production capabilities. If they are scraping any kind of a bottom despite ample time, money and opportunity so that they can’t handle it, then they have only themselves to blame. Foresight of complete idiots

You're making a lot of assumptions here.
Dumping Ukraine is what you wanted all along, so what's the problem?

I didn't want to dump one wasteful military commitment for another. Net, we're in the exact same place, or at least we will be once they install a new speaker and Congressmen start to outbid each other on how much military aid we send to Israel.

But I think the administration, stupidly, really thought this spring counteroffensive was really going to put Russia on it's heels and since it didn't, even a few of the dim bulbs at the White House and Pentagon are starting to realize that we're just not going to win that war, no matter how much money is stuffed into Zelenskyy's pockets.

So you think turning our back on our allies is the proper course of action.

Who is our ally in this situation?

Well I would disagree that Ukraine is an ally. I didn't vote for that, and don't think there is any treaty that states that. But if you disagree, as I'm sure you do, don't take it up with me, take it up with John Kirby. He's the one who said, “And on the Ukraine funding, we’re coming near to the end of the rope. I mean, today we announced $200mn, and we’ll keep that aid going as long as we can, but it’s not going to be indefinite.” So what does being an ally mean to the White House?

As for Israel, we have a much longer history with them, and you might could call them an ally, although in an informal sense. We don't have any sort of defense treaty with them.

But John Kirby didn't ask me, you did.
Ukraine is our ally because of their geographical position in relation to Russia and their wanting to join NATO. Israel is a nuclear power because of the US.....allegedly.

I freely admit I don't get that. I'm not sure why wanting to join NATO and being near Russia automatically makes them an ally. However I don't get to make that decision, the White House does, and this thread is actually about Kirby's statements which seems to indicate they are preparing to dump Ukraine for Israel.

It's all about optics and short memories. Now the money matters will be reset, instead of 80 billion the grubmint and MSN will reset the narrative to Israel and the cash counter to zero.

And any one trying to ADD the total from Ukraine to the up coming aid to Israel the indoctrinated will simply yell WHATABOUTISM. ;)

    So, under Bribed Joe:
    • We're stretched trying to support two wars against Gaza and Russia
    • Steaming Carrier Groups to area to keep Hezbollah, Syria, Iran from jumping in.
    • If the area blows up, oil could hit $300 a barrel, just after Bribed Joe dumped half the SPR.
    • Hoping that China doesn't decide that this is the moment to take Taiwan
    • While Inflation is eating the lunch of the US middle and working class.

The US is going to run out of ammo and money because
Bribed Biden has no priorities; he wants to go to war with
lots of countries, and Joe even wanted a punch up during
the campaign trail with a worker in Detroit.

It would be easier to list countries Joey doesn't want to fight.
