Does the GOP have what to win in 2014 or will the Democrats come back and take the house?

I'll repeat what I generally said in the other thread... Obamascare is literally going to scare people away. Not only did Obama lie on several occassions about keeping your doctor/insurance, but nothing works (after spending half a billion dollars to a company that has ties to Michelle Obama). 2014 will be another referendum on Obamacare - in 2012 it was due to the projected outcomes and in 2014 it will be because of the realization of the outcomes. The facts are: the Obamacare website doesn't work and people are losing their insurance. Dems are done.

Yes, things SHOULD work out that way -- assuming that things don't drastically improve in regards to either Obama's or the Dem leadership's political fortunes between now and election day -- but then again based on his four years of having everything turn to utter cr*ap in his hands here and abroad and since he was going up against Mitt Romeny (who was Obama in White-Face only with actual business and management experiences and a history of actual political successes) Barack should have lost the 2012 election . . . and yet that did not happen. So I have learned to be a bit wary about 'shoulds' and 'wills' where national level politics is concerned.

That's true. I have to remind myself to stay grounded. I had election depression for a while after 2012. lol

Everything will be exactly the same as it is now. The Republicans are at fault for the debt ceiling scare, and the Democrats will be on the line for the Health Exchange disaster. In the end, not having any clear, scandal-free party winners, people are going to vote for their preferred party again, and we'll have the same gridlock for another few years.

But, there's a bigger issue here: the Federal budget crisis and America's decline. It has been predicted repeatedly and consistently for decades now, and it has now moved ahead of schedule because of the Great Recession. The point is that neither side deserves to be the reigning power, to decide what gets cut and what gets spent, during this decline because otherwise the USA is going to come out of this downturn lop-sided.

Yes, exactly so as far as I see it going as well. As for the dismal future of this nation; regardless of the fact that we are a democratic republic we also have an emotional need for charismatic leadership as a people. Thus we fall for the political patter of slick and charismatic national level politicians -- especially if the mainstream media subtly or not so subtly campaigns for him or her -- and afterwards we tend to steer a drunken on-and-off again course in that person's ideological wake. This tends to make for bad decision making -- on the whole -- for the future health of this nation. But that's just the way things are. It's perhaps true that at last our uncanny luck as a nation has finally begun to run out for us . . . and so we will suffer the consequences.

I would agree with you if I thought that the Government shutdown would remain on the forelines of political thought in the everyday American, but I don't think that's the case. It's been overshadowed by Obamacare, which is effecting millions of more Americans than the shutdown ever could, and on a more personal basis. People are losing their insurance, the Obamacare website is a half-billion dollar flop, and Obama lied to the American people about something he owns... Obamacare. Most people don't even know it's called the Affordable Care Act.

Obamacare is the only reason I would think 2014 could be another landslide victory, like 2012.

The non Republicans will win the majority of offices. That's a given.

I keep saying 2012 in threads, when I mean 2010. I'll get it one of these days. Promise. =X

Manipulation of district voting blocks, combined with efforts to restrict voting in certain areas will allow Republican control of the House to be maintained...though not to the extent we see today. The TP contingent will be hit rather hard allowing a slightly more moderate control which will create a new dynamic. It is possible (though unlikely), this new dynamic will also end the "Party of No" perception and repair some aspects of governance in this country....which will add some level of respect to the GOP.

Should this transpire....much of the damage done will be repaired and my fingers are crossed.

The 2014 election is setting up the same way the mid-terms did 4 years ago and that doesn't bode well for the Democrats.

The GOP will maintain control of the House and thanks to ObamaCare they will probably gain ground in the Senate.

To be honest, I see the Democrats taking charge of both houses of Congress. I don't want that to happen but that is what I see happening. The reason is because I think a lot of people are seriously disillusioned with the Republican party partly because of the government shutdown and partly because of what they see as extremism within the Tea Party.

So basically I think that unless the Republican Party can make some serious changes, I don't see my party, the Republicans, winning many seats in the 2014 elections.
