Who is the government going to force into slavery or to take a lower-than-market wage to provide all this free health care?

    Terrible response.

How about this. All of us go back to living in a society of voluntary transactions that worked great for 200 years, and you can have your collectivist forced society. Which do you think will fail first?

You want all the benefits of society without paying any of the costs.

Single payer healthcare isn't free, obviously. But, let's remember that EVERY other first world country has single payer healthcare. And, the citizens of every one of those countries pays less for healthcare on a per capita basis than US citizens do.

The issue here is that our system of paying for healthcare is just plain worse. Their systems have equivalent outcomes when WE pay far more.

Also, let's remember that in the US every employer of more than 50 employees is required by the government to provide and manage healthcare for their employees.

This IS a cost cutting requirement, because most employers buy the coverage they offer from insurance companies at bulk rates, with the added benefit for the insurance companies that employees tend to be healthy, and when they are not they tend to drop out of the employeed population and thus lose their coverage at the time when they need it most! In other words, it is tuned to be optimal for insurance companiy profits.

Thus it is cheaper - but, at the cost of not covering those who get sick.

Please remember that our companies are competing with companies in every other first world country that do not have to have their company take on healthcare funding and management.

You have to have something to look for and a reason. Today’s GOP is a direct descendent from the whigs, who pride themselves back then, on being called the “ do nothing party. “
Recessions ? Yup, that’s their specialty.

That’s what the Democrats want. “Free” government funded health care.

Never heard that. The only party that wants free stuff from the government are the republicans. They cut taxes and run up deficits. That’s free stuff.
That’s laughable. It’s only republicans that want free stuff.

Guess I won that one. You have nothing to back your statement. You make absurd statements and can’t back them up.

Serious ? Republicans are the masters of deficits and recessions. That’s all because they don’t pay their bills. We call these people freeloaders.

    Exactly.....
It’s amazing how republicans keep thinking that paying a “for profit” for a service is cheaper then paying a non profit, it’s amazing.

What ‘s really peculiar is, they luv the free market but think pharma is not subject to it and should be allowed to charge what they want for drugs with NO COMPETITION.

And, insulin cost a $1000 a vile in the US and $25 in Canada. It’s the same drug company selling it, but we have to pay more because republicans don’t believe going through any of their time in office without a recession.

Society is NOT taking from some to give to others. Society is not forcefully collecting the fruits of others labor and determining how best to distribute those fruits for everybody's benefit.

Society is the mere benefit of trading skills to be more efficient, not have to learn every skill, and providing for each other on a mutually beneficial level in a voluntary fashion.

Your corrupt view of society only works when you forcefully take from somebody. In that case, what is the benefit for those that give more than they recieve? They might as well just leave that society because it is of no mutual benefit to them.

You have a very perverted view of what society is, and you desire to use government to apply your force.

    Typical.

Complain about left wing social programs, and they counter with roads, military, post office... which are not social programs.

It's because they can't debate their darling programs on their own merit, because they know they suck, so dishonestly present a fallacy.

    Grow a pair.

Well there's also the fact taxes pay for roads, military, post office and you guys cut taxes so there's not enough money to pay for these things.

Can't deduct something from a paycheck that doesn't exist. 'Free' is relative. If you're not paying any income taxes, it literally is free.

We give a free ride to huge and highly profitable corporations, while those with moderate incomes pay taxes to faciliate the infrastructure those corporations need - the SEC, market security, post office, water, electricity, waste water processing, transportation of materials, products and workers, our military, public communications, the list goes on and on.

Then, you want to call those who make so little that we don't tax them as getting "freebies". You want to call it "freebies" when people who can't buy food and housing get help. And, you want to call it that even when these people are working for the corporations who don't pay taxes.

You get all upset when someone who needs help buying food and a place to live gets some help.

And, you're perfectly fine when corporations pay no taxes as they struggle to get richer faster than they are already getting richer - as they are supported by those who pay the bills for the resources required for these corporations to get even richer.

You Republicans are just so disgusting on this issue that it's remarkable that ANY of you have the balls to call yourselves Christians!

This is just your pure Republican partisan BS.

We pay so much money in our attempt to actually get healthcare that we can easily fund single payer healthecare for all.

Every other first world country has done so. The idea that America can't is just plain absurd.

It might be a jar to our system to do so. After all, corporations would no longer have to manage healthcare for their employees like they do today if the company is over 50 employees. That's a huge savings!

Also, it means that Americans wouldn't be funding a for-profit healthcare insurance sector that is about $1 trillion per year.
