Yes, population behaviors are analogous to geopolitics. Btw, Western involvement improved or attempted to improve the middle East.

I don't mind sharing the forum with foreigners. I do NOT like when they start talking about revoking or restricting MY constitutional rights though! Some of them do like to stick their noses into OUR business a bit too much, IMO. :) Like a little old lady peering over the fence at you. Lol.

This forum is primarily non-American posters.
My curiosity is why they are so interested in our domestic affairs.
It is laughable for anyone to think international opinion is going to impact anything Americans do.

You know.....I have just about given all that I have for my country which is the United States of America.

I have been shot, almost blown up, had to go through surgeries.....lost a fiancee because I would be gone for months in some hell whole while the woman I loved worried and fretted and for those of the members here who watched over my fiancee Sky while I was gone I cannot thank you enough.....but unfortunately my being gone for over 2 months and then coming home to her and then having to fly out only 2 days after I got home was just too much for Sky and she left me.

But my point is I have given with the exception of my life....everything to my country.

And for ANYONE to even suggest I am not American is not only insulting it is damaging to me.

ESPECIALLY a member who I tried to help.....tried to be their friend.....as I did not judge....and did what I could.

But unfortunately.....some people simply do not have the heart I have.

I don't think those things are 'caused by society', with respect. I have three kids ... all hardcore technerds, and they know how to use a dial telephone with a receiver (ours is a black Bakelite model from 1949), they know they have to go to the Post Office to buy stamps to put on letters/parcels, they all know how to use a calculator, and all have SLR film cameras and know how to develop film themselves. And they know what Blockbuster was, plus why it died.

Because America is ONE country, in a world full of countries.

We're not especially interested in your domestic affairs. But some of us find American culture fascinating in the same way car wrecks are fascinating.

And one of the most bizarre of American cultural horrors is this notion that Americans have nothing to learn from outside. No wonder it's a car wreck.

You know.....the thing is that unlike other nations the United States has an extremely complex infrastructure and is so wealthy that a person could spend their entire lives here and still not see more than 10% o the nation if that.

Because of this many American's do not ever travel outside the U.S., Mexico and Canada is almost identical to the U.S. and Mexico is a fun place and very pro American.

Now I have been all over the world and I can tell you....although there are some beautiful places to visit....it's nothing like the United States.

the important point here is that you HAVE travelled, and so have made an informed choice. you've allowed yourself to learn from others.

it would seem many Americans live in a fantasy world in which America is the end of the line when it comes to ... well, everything. they imagine they have nothing to learn. I'm pretty sure that's been the undoing of the country. no man or nation is an island. even when said nations are islands :D

Well in reality more American's travel than the people of any other nation.

We don't travel as much ever since 9/11....but we still do travel.

You right that some American's really need to travel overseas but let me tell you how this can be both good and bad.

You have to understand that since the population of the United States is the most culturally diversified population on Earth most American's are VERY familiar with the customs, culture and religions of other people from other nations......BUT.....

Travel to other nations by American's can be a bit of a culture shock for them.

You have to understand American's are VERY used to instant gratification.

We pride ourselves on being able to get anything, anytime, anywhere.....and in most other nations this simply is not possible.

    1) back in my 'backpacking around the globe' days (pre-9/11) I rarely encountered Americans. I mean, it was VERY rare. Plenty of Canadians, but primarily Northern Europeans, Brits, and Japanese. In fact I remember one long stint working in Indonesia, the only Americans I came across in 12 months (of the hundreds and hundreds of travellers encountered) were naval personnel there on duty. And they hated the place

    2) if Americans are so familiar with other cultures, why is travel a culture shock? I went from a suburban white bread mono-culture life directly to my first travel experience in a remote corner of a third world country. literally living in a 'grass hut' with no power or running water. I was absolutely fine. slotted in immediately and was totally comfortable. I was also used to instant gratification and all that jazz, but I was raised by parents who never glorified one way of existence over another. It simply never occurred to me to view difference as 'bad', so there was no resistance to it when it came. besides, I really wanted to learn about other cultures and people. I think that's the crucial factor, actually.

Well here it is in a nut shell.

American's can go to the beach on vacation anywhere in the U.S. and have a great time and be able to get anything they want at anytime.

Now Mexico such as places like Cancun and Cozumel...etc...all cater to American's as we go down there my the millions and the Mexican's understand that we expect a level of courtesy and ability that really only exists in the U.S. and in Canada and Mexico along with a number of islands in the Caribbean.

Now I have been EVERYWHERE....and I mean everywhere and I was in Paris and all I wanted was a loust cup of coffee and in the U.S. the CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT!!!

I waited 25 minutes to get a F@#KING cup of coffee because in France unlike the states a gratuity is automatically built in the bill and by doing this it gives ABSOLUTELY NO INCENTIVE for the waiter to do a good job.

I grew up with the same advantages. Literally, identical. But it had no effect on the way I processed alternate scenarios. The slow pace of life (and service!) in many parts of the world seemed simply different and interesting. I was pleased to experience it, because it gave balance to my own very skewed perspective.

You see there is no such thing as a slow pace of life in the United States.

Things happen here at warp speed and the U.S. Worker is rated #1 in the World in Productivity.

Things happen fast....people are fast....everything is fast.

Sam Adams....a beer made in Massachusetts won the Gold Medal over all beers including all the German Beers.

I drink Bud Light because I run and work out daily and I don't want the empty calories.

It will be over 100 Degrees F. tomorrow and for the next few days.

You can't drink heavy beer in such temps.

    Yeah...I like a good Cognac.

I also love a good single malt Scotch.

I have always found those who drink wine to be pretentious in the extreme and the damn stuff gives me a headache anyways so even though my home is stocked I rarely drink the stuff.

Interesting. What has replaced Blockbuster, in your opinion?
Who should the PO be most concerned about?
    Your kids have phones, right?
