There is not a single conservative I know who cares that Ariel is played by a black actress. She's beautiful, enjoy the movie. But while you're pretending that conservatives care about the color of fish princess you're ignoring inflation, mishandling of student debt, mishandling of Ukraine, mishandling of China.

I don't watch any modern movies or TV shows so I wouldn't know anyway.

Heard about the new mermaid movie. Never heard who was in it much less thier skin color. What little I have heard though is that it sucks due to some sort of wokism in it. Never bothered to find out exactly what. Imo if a show/movie has political points in it then it's simply not worth watching. I watch shows/movies to be entertained....not lectured to by political BS. I've also stopped watching remakes. (That new pinocchio movie looks stupid) Which unfortunately means I don't watch a lot of TV/movies. Simply not worth my time.

    I think it's ridiculous.
I won't be watching the movie.
That's not to say a movie about a black mermaid couldn't be a good movie, but the very fact they decided to make a remake of the Little Mermaid with a black mermaid strongly suggests it will not be, and that this is just a gimmicky project with not much real artistic genuine creative thought or effort put into it.

Now is it a huge deal? No, not really. I think it hurts the Disney brand image, and is an example of ridiculous absurdity in the society and trying to rewrite everything old and classic, but it's not like I hold some anger or resentment against the company about it.

What you don't realize is the core progressive voting base approves of government paying off their loans, and overall they've never been that concerned about inflation. I've heard arguments from them years ago that they think it's a good thing. And further, I think China sort of gets a pass on a lot of stuff because China is run by a Left-leaning Communist Party. So the Left in other countries just doesn't seem to be as concerned.

Do a search on this forum for the other thread - the one where conservatives are, upset, about this

There is not a single "liberal" I know who cares what "conservatives" think about Ariel being played by a black actress. But while you're pretending that "liberals" care about knee-jerk reactions to casting for a Disney movie, you're ignoring global inflation, issues of student debt, the tragedies in Ukraine and American exceptionalism impacting international relations such as with China.

Clearly some people care on both sides though, because there are articles, social media posts and threads here about it. The fact nobody we know really cares doesn't automatically invalidate the opinions of those who do but the fact they do also doesn't prevent anyone (even them) addressing other issues as well.

It's getting increasingly difficult to find a topic someone isn't outraged about.
