Here in WA we've decided that semi-automatic rifles are only good for mass murder, so we've banned selling them. And by 'we', of course, I mean our rulers banned it. Our governor: “I don’t believe that anyone believes that weapons of war are protected by the Second Amendment. And these particular kinds of weapons, that’s their only real reason, is mass murder. There is really no reason for these particular weapons, other than that. This bill does not take away all the right to firearms. It doesn’t prevent people from having firearms to protect their personal space and home. But the only reason for this — if you think of the ‘Night of the Living Dead’ and 10,000 zombies are coming to your house, and you need to spray gunfire all over the neighborhood.” Except for police, I guess. They are exempt. As are, I imagine, the bodyguards of our legislators, the rich and famous, anyone with a friend in the govt who can exempt them... Well, I'm glad we can agree that having firearms to protect our personal space and home is a right that shouldn't be taken... but why do the police need 'weapons of war' that are only good for 'mass murder'? Clearly they arent and they don't and our governor is just full of steaming ****. I don't expect this will survive very long in the courts. But regardless, it appears its about time for me to find another state to live in, since this one is determined to legislate me into a criminal. What a Fing hassle for no good reason. It should be noted that there's only support for this stuff in the handfull of our largest cities, where the bulk of the gun crime occurs of course. Yet they insist on passing these laws for the entire state...
people afraid of criminals are more willing to cede more rights to the benevolent protectors from the government public officers should be limited to using, carrying etc the same weapons that their masters-the public are allowed to own. If a weapon is too fearsome for a lawful citizen to keep in his home, it is certainly too frightful to allow public servants to carry them on the streets of our civilian neighborhoods
