Why does my cat hate walking on leashes?

Keeping a cat is an adventure.

An indoor cat, (and any cat you love should be an indoor cat, it gives them a much longer lifetime) both can and should be walked, as they need time outdoors like any other creature.

It takes time and patience to teach them how to tolerate a harness, (never use a collar for walking) but it will be worth it. Do like the YouTube tutorials say.

One tip is to put the leash on the harness, carry them outside to where you want the walk to end, and then walk them back. They may want to explore further but will generally try to return on their own, eventually

Never pull or try to influence them to walk in any way they don't go themselves. Pick them up and carry them if you must guide their movements, or must end the walk.

If it feels like the cat is walking you, you're doing it right

As of right now there is a cat doing everything within her power to prevent me from typing this and petting her instead. Including laying on the keyboard, headbutting my hands, and unplugging the laptop.

In this situation a dog could be trained to listen to the word "Stop!" A cat...not so much.

A cat is going to do whatever it wants to do with zero regard for your wishes or your feelings. If you want an obedient pet then get a dog. Cats can be pretty much summed up as having a really lazy and immature roommate who is also a prick but he's your best friend so you won't kick him out.

There's still wild cats that can live in cities without any human help. This means that most cats have at least some "feral" DNA and can't be compared to dogs that have been bred for specific purposes for thousands of years and probably have little to no "feral" ancestry.

All animals, including birds sense that Mother Nature is whipping up a storm b/f we're hit w/it. That's a sure sign that something is going to happen when you don't hear any animal sounds or a chirp from a bird.... the animal kingdom is dead silent. I remember that when I was 15 and living in the Midwest. No barking dog, no chirping bird, just eerily quiet.....then we're hit w/a tornado that left half out city looking like a war zone......

I live about 50 miles from Mt. St. Helen's who blew her lid off in May of 80. The people who lived close by the mountain said all the animals started acting weird, racing back and forth, panicking, then started disappearing, finding shelter and later the volcano hit....

Indeed. I was living in Florida during that horrid 2006 2007 hurricane season. Whenever one of those bad boys started approaching my evil cat would jump in my truck (I leave my windows down usually) and meow and throw a fit as if to say "lets get out of here!". It was almost eerie how he acted and he knew the only way to escape danger was for me to take him away in the truck.

I dont get what youre trying to say. Cats have also lived with people for thousands of years (like dogs), but theyre still domesticated. And dogs are domesticated, but there are still feral dogs, such as the dingos in Australia.

I have another question about the differences between cats and dogs.

Domestic dogs (at least some breeds) are descendants of gray wolves, and domestic cats are descendants of african and asian wildcats, and both have been bred to live with people, for thousands of years. Cats, like their wild ancestors, even if they are well fed, still hunt small animals, like squirrels, birds, small rabbits, etc, like their wild ancestors do.

However, dogs, even big dog breeds like Mastiffs and huskies and great danes and malmutes, dont really go hunting animals. I have heard of cats hunting birds, but ive never heard of a dog hunting and taking down a sheep or a deer. Why is that?

My moms friend said she saw people walking cats on leashes. How come my cat dislikes a leash, if a lot of other cats dont mind it?
