Why is the far right insisting on closed hearings via a vis the Biden family?
Oh sure, I know why they do it but is there any justification that they give that holds any water?

Closed hearings are used when Congress wants to ask questions and get answers.

Open hearings are used when Congress wants to speechify and bloviate for the cameras.

Because of politics, some will never believe that the Biden or Clinton families have ever done anything wrong.

The way I look at it, when Hunter acknowledged that Joe had been on the phone during his business meetings, there is reason to be concerned. I never called my father at anytime in my life when I was negotiating something or making a business deal. Why would Hunter, who had limited experience and drug abuse issues, be calling his father at that time? Why would Joe Biden interrupt a business meeting “to talk about the weather” repeatedly?

Look at it from the point of view from the governments and businesses who paid Hunter millions. When you are dealing with someone who has access to a high level U.S. Government official, might that lead you to open your purse strings? When you can buy that access for relatively “short money’” like a couple million, why not do it? A smart politician is not going to put a quid pro quo on the record, but the implications are there.

A million dollars is not what it used to be. For a business it is a significant, but normal expenditure. For a government, like China, which deals in billions of dollars, it’s a rounding error. The fact that Joe Biden went golfing and had dinner with some of Hunter’s business associates adds to the concerns. Joe claims that he had nothing to do with Hunter’s business dealers, but the record of his actions shows he did.

Because the open hearing, after the closed hearing, will be produced (to the best of the majorities ability), the politicos need to look good on camera and get their one minute sound bits looping on the News and Social Media.

Why did Congress have closed hearing in the star chamber? With only Democrat selected second and third hand witnesses?
Comer will now have the public hearing so that Hunter can hang himself on the proverbial rope Comer just let Hunter have...
The lefty's just don't get it.... there will be public documents shown that will be introduced right after Hunter lies in the hot seat that Hunter can not dispute... and of on public display...

The court of public opinion... ain't it great?

When will Joe Biden be deposed about his knowledge and involvement? hhhhhmmmm.... "i am not a crook" has already been used...

To considerations. Closed hearings protect innocent people, and don't become spectacles of persecution for the cameras.

The conclusions reached and evidence supporting them found in closed hearings should be public- but the investigative process would actually lose effectiveness and do damage if it was.

Biden's team will have to invoke the 25th amendment, and then the games will begin.

By having closed hearings the left will not believe what gets leaked. Sadly the far right only listens to the far right and ignores the rest. Do keep in mind Hunter faught to have an open hearing and was threatened with prison if he didn't comply to a closed one. Seems rather unAmerican to me.

A closed door hearing on government practices is not unusual. Procedures and practices are likekly best kept confidential. Most of the hearings were in fact open.

Because the person in question did not nor does not work for the government and requested an open hearing.

It shouldn't make any difference whether you work for the government or not. You can either do closed door hearings or you can't.

That person does not make the rules, and he is now given his open hearing.
