I never understood the attraction for Hootch.Other than to say one tried it.It tastes terrible. It's not aged.Or even seasoned { via charred Oak barrels }.it's total backwater stupid.Like the crackers who make it and sell to other crackers. One of those crackers just so happened to be a my Ex- Sister-in Laws kin.Her family from West Virginia. They brought a mason jar of the stuff when my brother got married. He kept it in a cupboard for some time. I tried it once.It literally took one's breath away.Could not be enjoyed due to that tongue numbing. Therefore it was worthless. Plus, forget that too much of the stuff and one could go blind. I think it is part of the mystique, like having a tattoo. I think it manifestly stupid.Like eating squirrel brains. Sometimes man is as given to stupidity as a Raccoon is to shaking hands with a cat burgular.
Well Danny, why did you bring it up.? Don't bring up stuff Pops,if you don't want a response. This ain't the old folks home.
Hooch, as in moonshine? Nasty stuff. Better if cut with something. As it is I drink SoCo 100 which is bad enough but hooch is double that and with no flavor.
There's just a certain sense of satisfaction that is derived from making something yourself. You can also get around taxes and that stupid California law against anything stronger than 151-proof.
Moonshine is great! It turns anything into an alcoholic beverage. Mix 1 oz of the stuff with 11 oz of anything. Coca Cola, Orange Juice, Kool-aid, anything and it gives just the right amount of kick to put hair on your chest. Drinking it straight is not very smart, or its intended way of consumption IMO unless you are a real boozer.
You were presaging again.Like you are the #2 Fortune Cookie writer at the Foo Sue Yung chop suey plant.
Home made corn mash alcohol is big in the Appalachian Mountain area. You've never heard of moonshine?
The basic reason I started this OP is there is a TV show called ... - Moonshiners - that actually follows around a guy and his small crew as they go about the business of making Moonshine. I was interested in the technical aspect of it.Because technically, like brewing beer many things can go wrong and certain things have to go exactly right.People get the idea any hayseed with at least an I.Q. of 65 can do it.Not so.
