Why is everyone so upset with Russian Anti-gay laws....

I can understand getting upset at what other countries do if they are violating human civil rights.... but yet.... this seems to be an outrage of convenience and hypocracy..... let me expand.

When I asked SFGeoff, who said he supported a gay retirement home, if opening a hetero-retirement home in Spain was ok, he said yes.... But when questioned about opening a hetero-florist shop like this guy did..... (link of original story for those who don't know what reference we were making)

He said, "maybe in Spain they can, they may not have Civil rights"

So my question is now.... why is Russian gay laws such a big deal if, in other countries, Civil rights laws differ or may not have any.




I find it amusing to watch SFGeoff talk out of both sides of his political mouth when it and getting caught while doing it.... But why should we get involved in Russian civil rights issues if they aren't universal


and if they ARE universal, and you can open a hetero-only retirement home in Spain, but not a hetero-florist shop in Washington state.... is the gay movement REALLY about equality, or just getting more power?

 

Because it's unfounded and wrong. Just like they would be here.

 

but yet, according to SFGeoff, who was caught in a hypocracy supporting a gay only business.... and tried to talk his way deeper into a hole, said in spain, they may not have civil rights, so it may be different there.....


By that logic... Russia is not America.... why worry?


of course if Civil and Human rights are universal.... and he supports both gay only and hetero only businesses in Spain, then he should also support the Christian florist's right to provide services to anyone he chooses, or deny it to anyone he chooses.



but once again, what I truly believe is happening (besides SFGeoff getting caught and digging deeper while trying to deny his hypocracy).... is for the gay movement, it's not about true EQUALITY... it's about a power grab that has no concern about anything other than getting as much as they can.
