Why is socialism becoming increasingly popular in the United States?

In my 73 years and I'm not sure what "excessive" madness is; to me madness by definition is excessive. But IF I've ever witnessed it, "excessive madness" it was January 6, 2021 watching the unbelievable "madness" of the attack on OUR Capitol.

Only because "on the right" they've been brainwashed to believe ALL regulation is bad. Which is utterly false. All you have to do is look to how Regan's deregulation destroyed the United States as the worlds manufacturer. Was all of Regan's deregulation bad, probably not. But, obviously, neither were all the regulations he did away with.

What "excess" are you talking about? The excessive violence at our Capitol, yeah that's unacceptable. The excessive deregulation that ruined American manufacturing; yeah that was ill conceived and unacceptable. Unfortunately hard working Americans ended up paying the price by losing good paying secure jobs with benefits and suffering abject poverty for two generations and counting.

The only indirect control by a "regime", in the United States, that I've observed was tRaitor tRumps attempt to 'indirectly" overthrow our excellent Constitution by using the office of the Presidency to lean on election officials, all over America, to fraudulently change or "find" votes and overturn the election he lost.

Did farmers over extend or did they get screwed? Farmers are also really important. Mary who overpaid for a Masters in Philosophy from a private university is NOT important or vital to our survival. Government giving money to farmers is not socialism, government giving money (400+ billions) to banks is not socialism. But student who did MS in Philosophy get student debt forgiveness is socialism. The problem with America is that we don't have enough students with MS in Philosophy, that's why people believe farmers are vital and studying philosophy is not necessary.
