Limited Censorship Of And the Free Flow of Unfettered Expression I dunno, after trudging through some of the frustrating - BS & inanity (biting my metaphorical tongue), it would be kind of nice to have an area to just let the words flow & not be curtailed by conforming to the niceties of etiquette ... Any opinions on the matter? (who knows, prob. throwing this idea out there will offend someone, lol) - With the the best of intentions in Mind - S
Because those kinds of forums are pointless. There is a reason they really don't exist for long--the whole idea causes for unstable thinkers/posters to all gather together. I've been on forums that were "anything goes" and almost nothing of value is really posted.
No no nooooo, I get what Sahba is talking about. Re-read her post. She is asking why there isn't a "ROOM" that is no holds barred, separate from the rest of the forum, a "basement" or a "nuthouse" where members can call out others, let off steam, etc. I don't think she is asking for the ENTIRE forum to be no holds barred, just a walled off section with a STICKY post advising everyone that they "enter at own risk". PF seems to have undergone a little bit of a renaissance with better and more careful attempts at moderation and I applaud that but it doesn't change the fact that people need a pressure release and an opportunity to take others to task when they are acting like idiots. The basic rule would be that NOTHING discussed "downstairs" is ever allowed to be "brought back upstairs"...what happens downstairs has to stay downstairs. You can call someone out but the product generated by the callout thread cannot be recycled anywhere else in the forum. You have to have a room like that...or so it would seem. Does that make sense? Am I right, Sabha?
Horrible idea. I would suggest that "Sahba*" seeks out ANOTHER forum if they need a place to vent and throw unmoderated shade at people that they can't deal with. There are alot of forums out there with "no holds barred" sections. I would suggest that he/she/they move on.
i have recently opened a pop stand to compete in free market capitalism. it is bring your own beer and we play 90's music, but anyone is welcome. we have smoothies, god bless http://www.politicalforum.com/index.php?threads/lms-pop-stand-and-smoothies.549735/#post-1070140445
No thanks. Been there, done that. Not interested in reviving that nightmare, It will literally tear what is left of civility down.
I suggest that posters who need a 'pressure release' become members at more than one forum. If you feel like civil debate interests you, come visit here. When you want to throw feces, go where there is a feces throwing option.
Hey, you're good people, I know you from elsewhere. I "get" that PF wants to rise above, and you're down with that. So be it. But then again, it still was worth bringing up, even if most reject the idea.
Tks 'CB S', That is absolutely correct. I thought my heading would make my intentions more than clear, lol. Why isn't there a 'No holds Barred' discussion room w/ limited mod. oversight? The operative words being 'discussion room'. I appreciate your pointing that out CB S; long before I had time to log on this evening! I'm quite content with the 'refined verbal parring etiquette' here 99% of the time that is, lol.
I have not been to PF in a while, but it seems it has gone through some typical growing pains and if this was discussed before, I wasn't aware of it. But it doesn't appear to be a suggestion that's going over so well. Still worth asking about.
Because all it takes is one person to make threats and another person to report them to LE and the whole site could get shut down Try having a debate on Gab and you'll see why mods are necessary. The trick is having good mods who are relatively unbiased, and this place has the best I've seen. You can say pretty much anything you want here so long as its not the n-word or direct threats. If you wanna call someone a moron, just say their argument is moronic so its not a personal attack. Personal attacks are just how you admit defeat in a debate anyway.
I ain't aginnit, but there's no way the animosity generated won't slop over into the rest of the board; and for the management, the trappings of civility are everything, so I don't see it happening.
It was on this site, awhile ago now, that someone invited me to meet him in London so he could duff me up. True.
